  1. Ind 211-4published at 43 overs

Just a couple of singles after that boundary early in the over as India bump that run-rate up to 4.9 an over.

It has come down a bit since losing the two wickets in this session but they're still going along very nicely.

Hypocaust on X: India 205/4 from 42 overs at drinks. This is currently the highest run-rate (4.88 runs per over) for a team in the 1st innings of a women's Test.

  3. Ind 209-4published at 42.2 overs

    Shot!

Tossed up by Charlie Dean, mid-wicket has been left open and Yastika Bhatia needs no second invitation.

The left-hander is down quickly and sweeps with conviction. Four runs.

This is England's 100th women's Test. They have won 19 of the first 99, lost 14 with a whopping 66 draws.

The last time England played a Test in India was 2005 in Delhi. It ended in a draw.

England's last Test win was an Ashes triumph in 2008. Isa Guha took nine wickets in the match as they won by six wickets at Bowral.

  5. drinks break

    Ind 205-4published at 42 overs

India reach 200 as Harmanpreet Kaur drives through the covers for four.

It was a little uppish but safely in the gap.

Four next ball but it is more good fortune for the India skipper. She pushes at the delivery from Nat Sciver-Brunt, gets an inside edge but the ball whistles past the stumps and away to the rope.

    Time for drinks.

  6. Ind 198-4published at 41 overs

Charlie Dean is finding just a bit of turn off this day one surface but it is the flight and drift that is keeping the batters honest at the moment.

Another very tidy over from the England off-spinner.

There is a whole heap of pressure on Harmanpreet Kaur now, not only as captain but as their last batter with plenty of experience.

She is one of only two members of this India team to have played a home Test, the other being Smriti Mandhana, and in white-ball cricket they tend to score the bulk of India's runs.

If one of those two doesn't perform, as a team they have a tendency to panic.

Get rid of Harmanpreet, and England are well on top.

  8. Ind 196-4published at 40 overs

Lovely shot to get off the mark from Yastika Bhatia.

A touch too full from Lauren Bell and the left-hander drives firmly through the covers for four.

Amazing what pressure can do. Lauren Bell was finding that consistency and Jemimah Rodrigues was getting bogged down. Eight dot balls in a row from Bell to Rodrigues, then woof! The ninth breaks through.

  10. Ind 192-4published at 39 overs

Change of bowling for England with Charlie Dean replacing Sophie Ecclestone.

It's a good over from the off-spinner, two from it and she challenges Harmanpreet Kaur with a couple of flighted deliveries that drift away from the right-hander and turn a little.

Yastika Bhatia is the new batter for India, she'll face up to Lauren Bell at the start of the next over.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38 overs

    Rodrigues b Bell 68 (Ind 190-4)

    Beauty from Lauren Bell!

The England seamer swings the ball back in a long way and pegs back Jemimah Rodrigues' middle stump.

It's not a great shot from Rodrigues, who leaves a big gap between bat and pad as she goes back to try and force the ball through the off side.

The ball hoops through the gap and England claim a big wicket.

  12. Warner hits Perth century v Pakistanpublished at 07:25 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2023

The final session in Perth has just got under way in the first Test between Australia and Pakistan, where the hosts are 210-2 after 50 overs.

In his final series before retirement, David Warner has reached a century at a time where former teammate Mitchell Johnson has called for Warner not to even be in Australia's Test side.

Fellow opener Usman Khawaja batted with a black armband on after not being allowed by the ICC to wear trainers with "all lives are equal" written on them.

  13. Ind 189-3published at 37 overs

A quicker ball from Sophie Ecclestone slides down leg and beats everyone.

Four byes to get India going again after that maiden. The home side are still scoring in excess of five an over which is good going.

  14. Ind 184-3published at 36 overs

Maiden over from Lauren Bell as she settles in on a good line around Jemimah Rodrigues' off stump.

She was expensive before lunch so that will help Bell's figures a little.

  15. Not outpublished at 35.1 overs

It always looked to be heading down leg and ball-tracking confirms as much.

Not out. England lose a review.

  16. England reviewpublished at 35.1 overs

Lauren Bell hits Jemimah Rodrigues on the front pad and - after talking it over with bowler and wicketkeeper - Heather Knight sends it upstairs.

Not sure this lbw shout has too much going for it, though.

  17. Ind 184-3published at 35 overs

An unusually expensive over from Sophie Ecclestone with new batter Harmanpreet Kaur getting off the mark with a paddle sweep for two.

We've seen that shot from the India skipper a few times over the years.

  18. Ind 181-3published at 34.2 overs

Jemimah Rodrigues is going through the gears now.

She drives elegantly through the covers to start Sophie Ecclestone's latest over and then sweeps the next fine for four more.

  19. dropped catch

    Ind 173-3published at 34 overs

Nearly 50 and out for Jemimah Rodrigues!

She pushes at a ball around off stump from Lauren Bell, gets an outside edge but the ball falls just short of the diving Amy Jones.

It beats the England wicketkeeper and runs away for four. A bit of luck in an otherwise excellent knock.

A half-century on Test debut for Jemimah Rodrigues - and it comes up in style.

Too full from Lauren Bell and Rodrigues just eases the ball through the covers for four. Lovely shot.

It's taken the India number four 82 balls to get to 50.
