I had to Google that one, George. I'm not going to lie.

Lauren Filer comes on to bowl for the first time in this innings but is soon taking a swing at the turf with her boot as Deepti Sharma hits her for four.

Blake's 7 for me, classic telly, wobbly sets the lot!

    George

  3. Ind 110-4published at 24.2 overs

There's still no sign of Shubha Satheesh after she went for a scan on a finger injury. I guess there's little need for her to risk anything with India's lead now over 400.

Deepti Sharma has been promoted to number six.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24 overs

    Rodrigues c Beaumont b Dean 27 (Ind 109-4)

Oh Jemimah Rodrigues is furious with herself. She had been playing so well.

Charlie Dean gets one to turn and bounce to take the shoulder of the bat and loop into Tammy Beaumont's gleeful hands at short leg.

    Better from Dean.

  5. Ind 109-3published at 23.5 overs

Henry has probably just made the smartest point we've had on this page all day. It sets off alarm bells for me.

England will have to find a way of playing spin, because the next couple of ICC events are going to be tough going if they don’t.

    2024 – T20 World Cup in Bangladesh

2025 – 50 over World Cup in India

  7. Ind 105-3published at 23 overs

    Lead by 397

Back on the number seven shirt, Sanath Jayasuriya also wore that number for Sri Lanka. It's quite the list.

  8. Ind 96-3published at 22 overs

    Rodrigues 16, Kaur 4

Harmanpreet Kaur lunges right forward in defence to end this maiden over from Charlie Dean. That is something England didn't do. There was too much poking and getting stuck on the crease.

India haven't won a Test since 2014. I think we can all agree that will change, probably some time tomorrow. I feel a little silly for suggesting this morning that England could have batted themselves to parity during today's play.

  10. Ind 92-3published at 20 overs

    Lead by 384

More problems for poor Amy Jones as Charlie Dean lobs up one which almost lands off the cut strip. Jones can't take it cleanly and a few more extras are stolen.

Harmanpreet Kaur pulls a half-tracker at the end of the over to keep the strike.

  11. Ind 88-3published at 19 overs

Remember when India dropped Jemimah Rodrigues for the ODI World Cup? Madness.

Here she drives expertly for four.

  12. Ind 83-3published at 18 overs

    Lead by 375

England have just not been accurate enough, the spinners in particular. Charlie Dean now lobs one down the leg side and Amy Jones cannot prevent four byes.

  13. Ind 77-3published at 17 overs

    Lead by 369

We've got Jemimah Rodrigues and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur at the crease now. Both batted well in the first innings.

Cricket in India is just so compelling when a pitch is turning like this. Finding a way to survive let alone score is nigh on impossible, and every ball feels like an event.

Forgetting England’s predicament just for a moment, this will be great viewing over the next few sessions.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.3 overs

    Yasitka c Beaumont b Ecclestone 9 (Ind 77-3)

Another one gone, although this is hardly good news for England.

A ball from Sophie Ecclestone spits off the pitch and takes the inside edge of Yastika Bhatia's edge before looping to short leg.

Batting is not going to be easy on this surface tomorrow.

  16. Ind 77-2published at 16 overs

There are reports in the Indian Express this morning that India have retired the Number 7 jersey in tribute to World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni.

There's something about number 7s isn't there? Dhoni, David Beckham, Ronaldo, S Club.

    Let us know your favourite...

  17. wicket

    Verma c Ecclestone b Dean 33 (Ind 71-2)

Well that's a bit of a gift! Shafali Verma has just biffed Charlie Dean straight to long-on. England have a wicket to boost their sorry afternoon.

  18. Ind 71-1published at 15 overs

It'd say Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt, Sophie Ecclestone and Tammy Beaumont were all to blame for their dismissals.

Nat Sciver-Brunt played a bad shot to a good ball.

  19. Ind 69-1published at 14 overs

    Verma 32, Yastika 7

Left-hander Yasitika Bhatia, herself a first-innings half-centurion, has come out to play. She bashes her second ball for four on the sweep.

In and around the hunt for milk, I've been trying to comprehend what I've seen over the past two hours. India bowled excellently but England were very poor. There were some awful dismissals.

  20. Ind 62-1published at 13 overs

    Lead by 354

England were 67-2 when I left you earlier. What on earth happened?

Yasika Bhatia has come out to bat at three for India. Debutant Shubha Satheesh, who batted so well in the first innings, has been off the field with a finger injury.
