  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 32.4 overs

    Dean lbw b Rana 0 (Eng 131-8)

It goes from bad to worse for England.

The ball hit Charlie Dean outside the line but that doesn't matter because she wasn't offering a shot.

Ball-tracking shows it was going on to hit the top of off. England have lost 4-5 in four overs.

Another big-turning delivery from Sneh Rana and Charlie Dean shoulders arms.

She is hit on the thigh pad, India go up for lbw and the umpire's finger goes follows.

Reviewed but this looks very close.

It has taken Pakistan 26 overs, but they do have a 50-run opening partnership on the board, chasing 487 in the first innings.

Of that half-century, Imam ul-Haq only has 12, with nine runs of the partnership coming in extras.

Kate Cross joins Charlie Dean with England in a mess, nearly 300 runs behind with only three wickets left.

It's not every ball but this pitch has suddenly started to offer a bit of turn.

England might almost wish it was every ball because at least you can play for it. At the moment, they don't know when a delivery might go sharply and when it will only go a fraction.

So often Nat Sciver-Brunt rescues England, and she has done that somewhat today, but there is only so much that one player can do.

The pitch has offered some grip and bounce for the spinners, including yesterday, but that is the first one that has properly turned sharply.

England have had mixed fortunes. Amy Jones was unlucky and Sophie Ecclestone's one kept a little low (although it was still a poor shot).

But there were misjudgements from Sophia Dunkley and Heather Knight, Tammy Beaumont's run out was avoidable and Danni Wyatt was caught in two minds.

But they've now lost three wickets for four runs and India may be thinking of a three-day Test.

That's the big one for India - and what a delivery it is from Sneh Rana!

It's tossed up wide of off, Nat Sciver-Brunt goes back to cut but the ball rags back and stays a touch low.

It crashes into off stump and this innings could be over in a hurry.

This pitch has gone from day one Lord’s to day five Chennai overnight. India have bowled well but suddenly we’ve got a raging Tina (Turner).

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30 overs

    Ecclestone b Deepti 0 (Eng 126-6)

Bowled her! England are in big, big trouble now.

Sophie Ecclestone is cleaned up second ball as she goes back to a ball from Deepti Sharma that turns and stays a touch low.

Straight through and into the timbers. Charlie Dean comes in to join Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Oh Amy Jones – how unlucky can you be?!

I reckon Smriti Mandhana at short leg deserves an assist for that, lovely little near-post flick-on!

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 29.4 overs

    Jones c Verma b Deepti 12 (Eng 126-5)

So unlucky for Amy Jones but India are jubilant.

Jones flicks the ball off her pads, it clunks into the helmet of Smriti Mandhana and loops up for Shafali Verma to take the catch.

    When your luck is out...

    Four more for Amy Jones.

Sneh Rana drags this one down and Jones gratefully pulls it away fine.

They're all useful runs for England in this situation.

NSB is going to have to carry on until she's at least 50 years old. Once she retires, England are in real trouble.

Sneh Rana is on for the first over after drinks but overpitches first ball and Amy Jones crunches it through the covers for four.

  16. drinks break

    Eng 117-4published at 28 overs

Drinks come out with England in real trouble.

They can just be thankful that they have Nat Sciver-Brunt.

The all-rounder sweeps Deepti Sharma powerfully just in front of square, bisecting the two fielders in the deep. Four more.

  17. Eng 110-4published at 27 overs

Pooja Vastrakar is still finding plenty of swing back into the right-handers and Amy Jones has to jab the bat down quickly a couple of times in the over.

The England wicketkeeper then gets off the mark with a single pushed out to deep cover.

Nat Sciver-Brunt goes to her half-century with a single.

It's been a fluent knock from the England all-rounder, getting to 50 from 63 balls.

It's a muted celebration. NSB knows she has got a lot more work to do.

  19. Eng 108-4published at 26 overs

Amy Jones is the new batter. She's also the last real recognised batter for England.

Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean are both useful with the bat but it does feel like it is on Jones and Nat Sciver-Brunt to rescue this innings for the tourists.

A streaky innings from Danni Wyatt, she played a couple of lovely shots but never quite looked settled.

It's only her second Test match, so it was a tricky situation for her to come in as a player who enjoys playing her shots and taking on the bowlers, especially spin.

It's another crafty bit of work from India though, whose energy has been superb and Harmanpreet Kaur's field settings have been very smart.

England have quite a long tail with Sophie Ecclestone down to come in at seven so Amy Jones has got to take a lot of the responsibility here.
