England's innings was incredible, and they have given themselves a chance - one that very few of us thought would be possible.

But for me, are their bowlers enough of a threat to wrap up the win?

Jack Leach was hobbling, and I can't see him being able to get through many overs. That leaves heaps of responsibility on Joe Root, which I'm sure he can manage, but also on the young shoulders of Tom Hartley and Rehan Ahmed.

Jasprit Bumrah was fabulous for India but Mark Wood hasn't been able to find the same spark so far.

But, regardless of the result, Ben Stokes and his side have done a lot to be proud of.

With the hosts requiring 231 to win, here's some context regarding the highest run-chases in India. If they are successful, it will be the sixth-highest chase of all time.

    1) 387/4 - by India vs England in Chennai in 2008

    2) 276/5 - by West Indies vs India in Delhi in 1987

    3) 276/5 - by India vs West Indies in Delhi in 2011

Eddie: Absolutely gutting for Ollie Pope, one scoop too many and out for 196. Incredible innings and England have a chance!

Tom: One of England’s greatest ever innings. Great comeback in this Test, not sure it will be enough but we have hope.

Ollie Pope's 196 is the highest-ever second-innings score by an England batter in India, surpassing Alastair Cook's 176 from 2012.

He faced 278 balls and hit 21 fours.

But it is the context that made it so great. It's his first game of cricket since that shoulder injury in June, the fact he was so jittery in the first innings, England had slipped to 163-5, overturning a deficit of 190 and that it came against Ashwin, Jadeja, Bumrah and Axar in their favourable conditions.

    Just remarkable.

My teenage daughter tells me that Pope’s knock should have given me ‘vibes’. Quite.

Baby Eva just woke 90 mins early - I think my wife was a bit surprised how quickly I grabbed Eva and charged downstairs given we normally have a frantic game or rock, paper, scissors to determine who sorts her out at such an ungodly hour!

  6. Australia v West Indies set for tense finishpublished at 06:07 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

There's another absolute cracker of a Test match going on in Brisbane - what a morning!

Chasing 216, Australia have slipped to 176-8 - though Steve Smith is stubbornly resisting on 72 not out.

West Indies quick Shamar Joseph took a nasty knock to the toe while batting yesterday but has been sensational, taking 6-54 so far.

Whether you are up at this hour baby feeding, dog-sitting, or just simply out of the love of the game, we appreciate your company.

If you're only just joining us, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Ollie Pope's 196 - one of the best knocks you'll see - has guided England to 420 all out and after the lunch break, we'll see India attempt to chase 231 for victory.

He was supported by Rehan Ahmed's 28 and Tom Hartley's 34 in an epic display of determination and confidence.

I'll admit I thought England were completely out of it yesterday. I'll admit I was still pessimistic this morning. But completely delighted to have been proven wrong.

Pope's 196 is the fourth-highest score ever by a visiting batter in the second innings of a Test in India. Only Andy Flower, Brendon McCullum and Garry Sobers ahead of him. Elite company. England lost their last three wickets for one run in 13 balls.

Pope gets a handshake from pretty much all of the India players as he leaves the field before a huge slap on the back from Ben Stokes.

India will need 231 to win.

    Ah.

Ollie Pope, perhaps knowing Jack Leach is going to struggle to run, tries to reverse ramp Bumrah off his stumps first up. It's a slower ball and Pope is comprehensively bowled.

England are all out but their fans rise to applaud one of the great innings from Pope.

Seismic innings from Pope of course, but those 50 odd runs added by Rehan and Hartley have also been priceless. Excellent from the young spinners.

That was the last ball of the over so Ollie Pope will be on strike next on 196.

Can Jack Leach see him to the landmark, and stretch the lead a bit further?

    Jasprit Bumrah is back.

A lovely spinning delivery from Ravindra Jadeja takes Mark Wood's edge. England are nine down.

The way the Pope has batted on this Sunday morning, he should lay his hands on Jack Leach's leg.

Ollie Pope misses a reverse sweep.
