Ah. It had been a very promising start for England but you cannot keep Jasprit Bumrah out of the game for long.

He finds just enough movement to take Rehan Ahmed's edge on the drive and a very useful innings ends.

Ravindra Jadeja? On a turner in Hyderabad?

Rehan Ahmed isn't bothered. He smashes the ball over mid-off for four.

This is Ahmed's highest Test score.

The new ball has not taken yet. India might be concerned it would be hard for the spinners to grip and fly to the boundary more easily off Bumrah.

Well Rohit Sharma sees things differently because he is not taking that new ball. Jasprit Bumrah continues with the old one with the field spread far and wide. That tells you India are worried about the runs.

Pope still finds a gap for four down through gully and then gets a little shoulder bump from Bumrah as he runs a single. Feisty...

The new ball is now available. All eyes on whether it starts spitting and turning.

It is difficult to believe Rehan Ahmed is only 19 years old. He is so full of confidence.

    Shot!

Jasprit Bumrah has this ball moving a little but Rehan Ahmed lunges onto the front foot to drive a beautiful shot through the covers.

It holds up on this slow-ish outfield but still means a confident-boosting three.

    First target = achieved.

A casually-taken single for Ollie Pope takes him to his second 150 in Tests.

  9. 'We try and take the scoreboard out of it'published at 04:04 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

England batter Joe Root on TNT Sports: "He [Jasprit Bumrah] was too good for me, wasn't he? He's a quality bowler. When it starts to reverse swing, we knew we were going to have four or five really tough overs that you can reap the rewards for if you make it through that, but unfortunately in my case, I couldn't.

"But the most exciting thing about yesterday was watching Ollie get through that, and his innings generally, the way he went about his business and put on partnerships with the other guys means that we're well in the game now.

"Here, you've got to find different ways of putting pressure back on the bowlers. That's what we want to do and the sweep shot has been a way of doing that, it's a way of making it hard for the bowlers to just bowl in the same area again and again.

"Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope gave us an exhibition in how to do that. We try and take the scoreboard out of it and play in our way. If we focus on that rather than outcomes and what might happen, we'll be in a strong position."

Jasprit Bumrah is going to start from the other end despite the new ball being two overs away.

  11. Eng 318-6published at 78 overs

    Pope 149, Ahmed 17

The balls that scuttle low - like one here that only gets ankle-high to Ollie Pope - aren't as worrying to England as they once were. They'll be using that to their advantage soon.

Who is awake? How many are you realistically hoping England set India?

  12. Eng 316-6published at 77.1 overs

    Here we go then.

Ravindra Jadeja is going to bowl the first over.

The first target is Pope's 150...

Pope's 148* is the highest second-innings score by any player in a Test in India since Alastair Cook's 176 in the first Test in Ahmedabad in November 2012.

Good morning from Hyderabad. There was a time when we didn't think we'd get this far. We might still be here this time tomorrow. We're told that Jack Leach will bat, but bowling is still TBC. His left leg was heavily strapped yesterday and his only over went for nine runs. The knee he injured whilst fielding is suffering from recurring swelling.

That's the good news. The bad news is we've just seen a shot of Jack Leach getting off the team bus this morning.

My grandad looks more mobile and he's 82.

Leach's leg is all bandaged up after the knock he took to his knee. There has got to be a doubt about whether he can bowl when it comes to it.

  16. England can 'dream the dream' - Rootpublished at 03:52 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Joe Root thinks England can "dream the dream" after what he called a "masterclass" from Ollie Pope.

"It was an absolute masterclass on how to play in these conditions," Root said.

"From what he has been through, to have all that time away, to come back and deliver like that shows his character and skill as a player.

"I'm so pleased for him. He works really hard and he deserves everything that comes his way."

Good morning. What is it they say about hope?

Ollie Pope has ensured England have some by dragging them to 316-6 with his best Test innings.

England lead by 126 runs with four wickets left. Add another 50 - is it greedy to say another 75? - onto that and things may get very interesting.
