  1. Lunch - Ind 93-3published at 25 overs

    Rohit 52, Jadeja 24

And that is the last meaningful action of the session.

England were superb early on and will be pretty happy. India, led by Rohit Sharma, have fought back well.

  2. Not outpublished at 06:02 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

Rohit dragged his foot a bit but it never left the crease.

There are loud cheers as the decision is given on the screen.

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 06:01 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    He hasn't, has he?

Ben Foakes and Joe Root appeal loudly for a stumping against Rohit...

Ah! The ‘last over before lunch’ ploy for the leg spinner.

  5. Postpublished at 06:00 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

Rehan Ahmed is coming on to bowl the final over of the session.

  6. Ind 90-3published at 24 overs

    Rohit 51, Jadeja 22

Joe Root is not having the best day. A dropped catch and now a full toss and a half-tracker. Both are put away by Jadeja which gets him out of his rut.

An England fan is stroking his chin in the crowd. Hmmm.

A steady recovery led by Rohit. With Jadeja these two have not missed out on any loose stuff. And there’s usually one poor ball per over by the spinners.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Rohit Sharmapublished at 23 overs

Rohit survives a tight lbw shout - it would have been umpire's call had England reviewed - before strolling to his half-century after flicking into the deep for a couple.

He's digging his side out of this hole.

  9. Ind 78-3published at 22 overs

    Rohit 49, Jadeja 12

Joe Root spoils a good over by firing the final ball down the leg side. Rohit sweeps as there's no chance for the fielder at fine leg. With that boundary the India skipper moves to 49.

  10. Ind 72-3published at 21 overs

Another over goes by with the only run coming off the bat of Rohit Sharma. There are just over 10 minutes to go until lunch. Plenty of time for one more wicket...

  11. Ind 71-3published at 20 overs

    Rohit 43, Jadeja 11

Joe Root starts with a maiden to Jadeja who, having started quite well, seems to be lacking rhythm on his return. He's lurching around a bit. It's like watching someone playing impressively through a blindfold.

Credit to Rohit for clinging on in there. He's been hit on the head, dropped and given out lbw. Hartley got that wicket of Patidar and found something from the pitch, but he's bowled one loose ball an over, allowing Rohit to get after him.

In fact Joe Root is going to have the chance to make up for the mistake himself.

He's coming on to bowl for the first time.

  14. Ind 71-3published at 19 overs

Skipper Stokes skews his face up a little as Tom Hartley drops short and is hacked away by Rohit to the delight of the crowd.

Joe Root is still standing at slip. Rohit has added 16 since the drop.

  15. Ind 67-3published at 18 overs

Anderson, while switching from over to round the wicket without a care in the world, keeps Jadeja quiet through another maiden.

    He offers so much control.

Got the grandson over from the states. 15 months old and wide awake at 4am. His parents were surprised when I volunteered to do the morning duty. Happy days.

  17. Ind 67-3published at 17 overs

Glorious from Rohit who cracks Tom Hartley back over his head to send the ball thudding into the advertising boards on the bounce.

It's a brilliant tussle. I don't think Stokes will even contemplate putting the field back.

  18. Ind 62-3published at 16 overs

I know most of you are following this from bed anyway but don't go anywhere. Anything could happen here.

With the ball moving for Anderson, Rohit again charges and chips the ball agonisingly over Dan Lawrence at mid-on.

The next ball is a textbook back-foot punch for four.

  19. Ind 56-3published at 15 overs

    Rohit 29, Jadeja 10

It's real, Sheila. I promise. And the funny thing is it could have been even better had Joe Root held onto that catch to dismiss Rohit.

Jadeja drives for four to end Tom Hartley's over.

Woke with a jump! Fumbled in the dark for my phone, blinked, tried to focus, struggle with my glasses. Three wickets taken! Am I awake? Please assure me...
