Of course you should be allowed a substitute. Genuinely injured bowlers should be allowed one too.

Exceptional circumstances which the Ashwin situation is should allow a like-for-like substitute. You can have one for a concussion so why not for this situation?

Should teams be allowed a substitute in such situations?

Like with all of the great series, the news never seems to stop with this one.

Late last night local time, India announced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had withdrawn from the rest of the match because of a family emergency.

It is a massive blow to the hosts, who will not be allowed to replace his batting or bowling but will be permitted a substitute fielder.

We, of course, send our best wishes to Ashwin too.

How much impact will his absence have today?

    Good morning.

Ready to go again? I've given up predicting what will happen next in this series.

England resume this morning 207-2 after 35 overs - I've double checked, that really is right - in reply to India's 445.

But after all of that good work, today will be absolutely crucial if they are to stay in this game or possibly move into the ascendency.
