Five minutes remain in what has been a tough session for England.

I wonder what house Kuldeep would be in if he is indeed a wizard. Maybe Ravenclaw.
He attempts one round the wicket to right-hander Ben Foakes but England's wicketkeeeper flicks it nicely to the mid-wicket boundary.
Probably stick to what you were doing, Kullers.

Former England captain
I just wonder if Jadeja is struggling, given he has not bowled today with it spinning so much.
England are so far behind in this game when you see how well Kuldeep is bowling.
Stokes 37, Foakes 2
Ben Stokes pulls for four but then hands are on heads when the England skipper almost played on. That one kept low, just to add to England's troubles.
Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner
He's slotted in to nice rhythm after yesterday's mauling.

Not sure Kuldeep can have bowled better than this. No one is reading him - not even the wicketkeeper.

Kuldeep was superb during the World Cup before Christmas. This has been every bit as good.
In this over Ben Stokes pokes and misses outside off stump and then top-edges a paddle over the wicketkeeper.
Step aside Chris Woakes. Kuldeep is the Wizard.

Tom in Vietnam - to use a footballing analogy, Root is like Pirlo, all control and class. Duckett is like Kante, busy but effective. You don't mind if Kante doesn't attempt the cross field but if Pirlo doesn't then why play him? If Root gets out being overly aggressive he has lost his effectiveness.

Rehan Ahmed, England's next man in, looks calm as he chews on his gum up on the balcony. Here was me thinking Root and Duckett would be batting all day.
Brendon McCullum is scribbling down something on a sheet of paper. Normally I'd say it would be some tactical notes but with this England it may just be a tip for the 2:50 at Kempton.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain
I would think Jadeja will come into the attack. With the way Foakes plants his foot down lbw could be a threat.

The answer to your question is once, Andy. England only made 250 or more once in eight innings on their last tour of India.
Kuldeep Yadav, meanwhile, is bowling like a dream this morning. Ben Stokes gets one that turns between bat and pad but bounces over the top of middle.
The curly-haired spinner throws his arms in frustration.

You can't love the approach when it works and hate it when it doesn't. How many times did we score more than 250 in an innings last time we toured India?

How long until Dhruv Jurel plays the Alex Carey role and stumps someone on the sly?
Ben Foakes is off the mark.

Similarities to the second Ashes Test at Lord's. England were in a very good position batting second then. Lyon off the field injured, then some questionable strokes.
Stokes 26, Foakes 0
Ben Stokes looks to have the balance about right at the minute, although we won't be saying that when one of these attacking shots goes to hand. He prods forward a few times before unfurling the big sweep to take four and keep Kuldeep thinking.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain
Kuldeep is bowling beautifully. Lovely pace and great variation and it looks like it spinning a lot more today.

Even the relatively comfortable singles are stressful. The crowd cheers as a fielder swoops in and throws but Stokes makes his ground.

I keep coming back to the idea that watching this England team is like being the parent of a toddler. Brilliantly entertaining and deeply frustrating, often both at the same time. Do not take your eyes off them in case they do something spectacular or life-threatening.
Stokes 20, Foakes 0
It has all changed since yesterday. The ball is spitting and the India close catchers shouting and appealing. Ben Foakes only just survives his first five deliveries.
