  1. Ind 9-0published at 1 over

Yashasvi Jaiswal takes a single to get India off the mark, before Anderson drags one short for Rohit Sharma to dispatch through square leg for four.

A push into the covers then beats two chasing fielders to the ropes. An excellent start by the hosts.

Meanwhile we've been given notice that Mark Wood isn't on the field - Dan Lawrence is on in his place.

The third innings of a Test can be tricky but not so tricky when you have a lead of 126. England have blown a huge opportunity today.

Let’s be honest, England have just found a more entertaining way to lose in India. Which is progress, I suppose.

England's players are gathered in a huddle on the outfield. Oh, to listen in on that conversation.

The England leadership have emphasised playing positively, and they'll know they came back from a 190 run deficit in the first Test.

We just haven’t been smart enough. Crawley last match when he was set, and holed out when the ball had just started to reverse, and now Root didn’t play the situation, see off Bumrah, and bat deep. They’ve only got 4 bowlers, but we’ve gifted wickets & now they’re gonna be much more rested than ours come second innings. As modern day Indian teams go, the team in this game and the last Test won’t get any easier to beat at home. What a wasted opportunity.

England have chucked it away. Test cricket is played over a long five days. You have to be tactically flexible and apply common sense, according to the match situation. England have failed spectacularly.

It's been an impressive comeback from the India attack after they were so comprehensively outplayed yesterday evening, but this is also most certainly an England collapse.

Having resumed the day on 207-2, they added 17 more runs before losing eight wickets for 95, including their last five for 20.

Anderson b Siraj 1 (Eng 319 all out)

    ...but England's won't.

Another Siraj yorker and that's just too good for a number 11 batter, James Anderson can't keep it out.

England are all out and trail by 126 runs after the first innings.

  9. Eng 319-9published at 71 overs

A lovely paddle sweep from Mark Wood reaches the boundary.

India's last pairing put on 30, you know...

England have not played with any sort of sense. They say that is the way they play but sometimes you have got to play the situation. England were on top. It wasn't the time or place for Joe Root to play that shot this morning.

England are miles behind the game.

Think we have to stop blaming BazBall for everything. Root is the most senior player in the side, and knows his own strengths. McCullum and Stokes will not have asked of him anything he doesn't feel comfortable with. And surely the wicketkeeping issue is settled as Foakes is batting as well as Bairstow and keeping brilliantly?

This really has been a dumb day for England's batters.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 70.2 overs

Hartley st Jurel b Jadeja 9 (Eng 314-9)

And now India are one wicket away from wrapping up the innings.

I've praised Hartley's footwork in this innings, but his dancing down the pitch doesn't come off on this occasion. He's nowhere near Jadeja's delivery and there's a simple first Test stumping for wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

I love Bazball, but it has to be a mentality of extreme confidence in your ability to overcome all opponents in all situations. I don’t think it should be an excuse to give your wicket away. Yes it’s fun, but it could be so much better.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 69.5 overs

    Ahmed b Siraj 6 (Eng 314-8)

Ahmed drives Siraj for four, but the India bowler emerges triumphant - a yorker gets the England man!

It's a lovely shot, timing the ball beautifully through the covers, and he hammers a ball to the cover fielder from the following delivery.

Siraj then fires down a yorker that squeezes underneath Ahmed's bat. The off bail comes off but there's a moment where no-one seems to realise what's happened - Siraj even turns to appeal to the umpire.

But that's most definitely a wicket!

England's one way of playing has completely allowed India to get back controlling the game. Kuldeep surely now comes back into the attack to see off the the tail...

  17. Eng 310-7published at 69 overs

Good use of the feet again by Hartley to bring his second boundary, skipping down the pitch a little to whip Jadeja down the ground for four.

  18. Eng 305-7published at 68 overs

Rehan Ahmed defends Siraj's first four deliveries, before an inside edge brings him his first run, running away in the direction of square leg.

  19. Eng 304-7published at 67 overs

Nice little drive from Tom Hartley, dancing down the pitch a little and driving Jadeja through the covers for four.

    Every little helps.

Kuldeep Yadav celebrates wicketImage source, Getty Images

If you've just woke up, go back to bed. England have crumbled.

From that position of strength of 207-2 overnight, it all started going wrong when Joe Root was out playing that trademark reverse scoop.

He was out for 18 before Jonny Bairstow fell for a duck to the superb Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep has found spin and bounce this morning and also dismissed Ben Duckett for 153.

Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes dug in until lunch but afterwards the England skipper tried to smash Ravindra Jadeja into the stands and was caught for 41.

Foakes then followed the next ball when he chipped Mohammed Siraj to mid-on for 13.
