Radio 5 live reporter Steve Wyeth with Manchester United fans outside Old Trafford: "I get the sense the mood is a little anxious."

    Fans:

Matt: "I am excited, I like to think the team will be up for it."

Luke: "Why is Shinji Kagawa not playing? I think David Moyes has got the team selection wrong.

"Can I just say to the whole country can we get #moyesout trending please because it's disgusting what he's doing to this club. He's dismantling the Empire. He did well at Everton but he is not a Champions League manager."

Kevin: "It takes time to settle into a new job, he has had a little time so far and he needs more time to get to know his team. Tonight is a big night though, the performance of the team should answer some of the questions about him."

A beaming David Moyes: "Nemanja Vidic has a groin strain. Ideally we wanted a lot of forward players on the pitch. We will be positive at every opportunity.

"We are capable of scoring two goals in the last 10 minutes if it came to that. We will go for it early doors but we are mindful of not losing a goal on the counter-attack."

"Both teams look like they are going to play a 4-2-3-1, from Manchester United's point of view there could be a chance both teams will cancel each other out.

"It's a massive game for United tonight, and if they do get through they will face a step up in level in the next round.

"I am not surprised by Ryan Giggs' inclusion, at the weekend there was no guile and you need someone who can look up and play a pass which is Giggs."

Joe from Nottingham: Happy with the team selection - experience through the spine, pace out wide.

Dale: Slow centre midfield and central defence. Expecting Olympiakos to run straight through the middle with only David de Gea stopping the goals from flowing

  8. Can you do it Giggsy?published at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

Ryan Giggs will play his 140th Champions League game tonight, only two games short of equalling Raul's record of 142 appearances in the competition.

He is already the oldest goalscorer in the competition's history and has scored three goals in two games against Olympiakos at Old Trafford in the past. Can he get another?

United have turned around a two-goal deficit to win in Europe before - against Barcelona no less.

Bryan Robson was the hero in 1984 as he outshone Maradona to help United come back from 2-0 down to knock the Catalan giants out of the Cup Winners' Cup.

"Even to this day, players who played and people in the stands - and Manchester United have had many great nights - would say, atmospherically, they have never known a night like that," then boss Big Ron Atkinson told BBC Sport.

Can David Moyes have a Big Ron style night to remember? I tell you what, he could do with a few reducers early doors...

If United are to turn the tie around they will have to play a lot better then they did in the first leg.

In a season littered with poor displays, managing just one shot on target in Athens was particularly bad.

"I have never seen Manchester United not create many chances. It was a big shock, especially their performance," Olympiakos goalkeeper Roy Carroll told BBC Radio 5 live this week.

"At Old Trafford, it has been very disappointing for them this season," said former United keeper Carroll. "They have lost a lot of games and let a lot of goals in.

"If we can keep them quiet, hopefully the fans will get on the back of the players and make them more nervous.

"We have to go out like we did at home and attack. It is very important for our players to try to get a goal."

You can hear more from Roy Carroll just after 19:05 GMT on Radio 5 live.

How do Olympiakos play tonight then? Come for a 0-0? Try and score the goal which will leave United needing four?

    Do they stick or twist?

Olympiakos coach Michel said: "We know our opponents very well and we know that 2-0 is not a serious advantage.

"We need to score to make sure we make it difficult for them as we know that United have a strong desire to turn the tie around."

Fernando Caviedes:, external Ryan Giggs will push this team tonight. People underestimate him because of his age, he can probably perform better than others.

Last season's runners-up Borussia Dortmund have endured a strange season. Their league form has been hit and miss, but they sit second in the Bundesliga. And in the Champions League, they relied on a late goal in Marseille to book their spot in the last 16. Jurgen Klopp's men capitalised on that good fortune with a 4-2 win at Zenit in the first leg.

As for the Russian club, they sacked their manager Luciano Spalletti since the teams last met, with former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas taking his place. His stewardship starts after this match.

BBC Sports Editor David Bond at Old Trafford

"One or two people here are saying that the Manchester United board are looking very closely to see how supportive the fans are of David Moyes tonight and in the coming days. Moyes has used his programme notes to send a message to the fans to get behind the team and create an atmosphere.

"It's a critical match, not just because of the hopes of staying in the competition but also David Moyes's position. They face West Ham on the weekend before the Manchester derby so it's a crucial period for Moyes. The Glazers, the board and the fans will be looking at the sort of performance the team can produce after the Liverpool defeat last Sunday. If there are any flickers of improvement then Moyes might be able to buy himself some more time."

Olympiakos have never scored on two previous trips to Old Trafford, conceding seven in the process, and have in fact lost on all 11 visits to England.
