Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, speaking to ITV: "We shouldn't make mistakes like in the last game. That result was fake. The game was in our hands but defensive mistakes cost us the game.

"Samuel Eto'o 100%? I don't say that. He wants to play. He is ready to play. It could be our last match, we have to risk everything. We have to be at the top level and play at the top of our game.

"We have had plenty of tactical meetings. We have covered everything. Now it is time to give everything and believe it is possible. If at the end we are out, it has to be after we have given everything."

On Mourinho: "I don't think he's been telling the truth for the most of the season, I think the defeats to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace came as a great shock. We don't know what he says to the players in training, we don't know if he's actually telling the players ignore what I'm saying in the press. We can win the league. I love Mourinho, I think he's a brilliant coach but I don't believe anything he says anymore.

"Despite the lack of a top-quality striker they have amassed a great number of points. If they can add one or two great strikers to that squad they won't be far off wining the Premier League next season. The way they harried and ruffled PSG in midfield last week makes me think if they can do that further up the pitch they may have a chance."

The players are out in both west London and Germany. It seems strange to see Cristiano Ronaldo coming out amongst the substitutes. He'll be glad of the rest though. Won't he?

Former Barcelona coach Johan Cruyff has been coming out with some pretty incendiary stuff about Jose Mourinho in the last few days - and he reckons the Chelsea manager is losing the dressing room, just as he did in his last job at Real Madrid.

"It's always the same with him," said Cruyff., external "When things are going well, it's the result of his good work, but the players are to blame when things are going badly. He already lost the dressing room at Real Madrid because of that and I can see the same happening at Chelsea.

"The problem with Mourinho is that he only cares about results. The result is more important than his players. He always thinks short-term and that's simply not my thing."

    Thoughts, Chelsea fans?

You might not be surprised to hear the stats are very much on the side of Paris St-Germain tonight. They have won 11 of the 14 European ties in which they have led following the first leg, and have only lost once when having a two-goal lead from the opening tie - against those great European powerhouses, KSV Waterschei, in the 1982/83 European Cup Winners' Cup. Laurent Blanc has had to hide the VHS of that horror show in the build-up to tonight's game. Probably.

Like Chelsea, PSG are bankrolled by very rich owners and, just two years into their lavish project, the French club are already bloodying a few noses at Europe's top table. But are they capable of winning the biggest prize so early in their development?

"There is real ambition within this club to win the Champions League as quickly as possible," said Blanc. "This can often take time. We've seen examples of that in England, with Chelsea, who despite investing an enormous amount of money, still took a long time to win the trophy."

  10. Historic night?published at 19:32 British Summer Time 8 April 2014

French football journalist, Julien Laurens speaking to BBC Radio 5 live ahead of PSG v Chelsea: "It has been 19 years since PSG reached the last four of the Champions League, it was an amazing performance last week and the fans believe after that third goal that they have a great chance of going through. I don't know why Chelsea stopped pressing them and stopped pushing them as high as they did in the first half in Paris.

"This was not a game for Ibrahimovic to play, the team is stronger tonight to play without him than with him. Cavani has sacrificed himself in the past this season, playing on the left or playing on the right but he has not been happy and he wants to score goals by playing through the middle.

"To win tonight would give credibility to the project and give credibility to the money invested - this could be a historic night for the club if they win."

Dave, Sheffield: Favourite comeback - try 03-04 quarter final. Deportivo lost the first leg 4-1 in the San Siro vs AC Milan. Then dismantled Milan at the Riazor 4-0 to go through. Ironically they lost in the semis to Porto - who went on to win the competition - guess who was manager of the Portuguese giants at that time?

Andrew, Richhill: What are the odds that ex-Chelsea man Alex scores one of those piledriving free-kicks he made his trademark when he played at the Bridge. Football always throws up stories like that.

Phil: Best comeback ever, Chelsea in the Nou Camp two nil down with ten men and our other centre half taken off injured, then comeback to two all.

The good news for Manchester United is that Wayne Rooney is expected to be fit for tomorrow night's game, which is finely poised at 1-1 following the first leg. It'll take more than a sore toe to stop Wazza running out in Germany.

On Manchester United's task away to Bayern Munich tomorrow night: "In the first leg at home, Manchester United set themselves up to protect Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. That was fine, but they need a goal tomorrow night.

"They don't have to come out and attack straight away, but they do need to attack at some point. The question then is: How do they protect the back players? If Bayern unleash Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, then all the best."

Chelsea aren't going to have it all their own way tonight though, if PSG manager Laurent Blanc is to be believed. The French side's manager insists his team will not sit back on their two-goal cushion from last week.

"We've not come here to suffer, we've not come here to have Chelsea just dictate the game to us and to dominate us," said Blanc. "We know that the best approach to take is to have the ball and to create chances. It would be wonderful to be able to qualify by putting this philosophy into action."

Willian caught the eye of the Match of the Day pundits at the weekend, with Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany hailing the Chelsea man for both his skill and work-rate.

The playmaker with the big hair seems to be getting better with each passing week. But, then again, has there ever been a Brazilian with just one name who wasn't good at football? Serious question...

"PSG will force Chelsea back because they are such an attacking side. In the first leg last week you could tell where the intensity of the game is in France, as PSG kept getting caught in midfield but the goalscoring and finishing is where the difference is.

"Mourinho rarely gets it wrong tactically, I just wonder if he may spring a surprise tonight. He is great at reacting to issues in a game and it will be interesting to see what he does tonight."

Tactics expert Michael Cox speaking on BBC Radio 5 live ahead of Chelsea v PSG: "It will be totally different from the first leg, Chelsea can't afford to sit back and PSG will be the ones doing that.

"The question is whether PSG can do that as we are not used to them being a counter-attacking side, they have their strongest attacking three in the side tonight. Chelsea were consistently struggling with crosses in the first leg and Edinson Cavani is very good in the air so that delivery to him is an approach that PSG may use tonight.

"Willian has been excellent for Chelsea and has proved to be the archetypal Chelsea counter attacking player, whether he'll be able to do that tonight I'm not sure. It will be interesting to see how he and Hazard break down a deeper defence tonight."

  18. Talking tacticspublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 8 April 2014

What's Chelsea's battleplan for tonight then? All eyes are on Samuel Eto'o up top, but it's the three behind him who could be the difference - according to BBC Sport's Robbie Savage.

The ex-Leicester, Birmingham and Derby midfielder has put together a blueprint for Chelsea success, and he says: "Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian hold the key to Chelsea turning this tie around. And it will be the movement of Eto'o in front of them that will allow them to make the difference.

"The main striker needs to make runs into the channels between PSG's centre-backs and full-backs to make room for that trio, who will be arriving into the space left by him taking defenders away."

Paris St-Germain will be cheered on by Nicolas Sarkozy at Stamford Bridge tonight, with the former France president crossing the channel to follow his team in their big Champions League tie. I wonder if ex-United States president Bill Clinton has made the trip too? Apparently, he's a big Chelsea fan from his time studying at Oxford in the 1960s! Those two would carry some clout in the posh seats.
