Croatia have had 24% of possession so far. Keeping it is not what it used to be. Just ask Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
The hosts have never lost their opening game. Yet.
Brazil look a mess at the back. But there's still nearly 80 minutes left...
It's in there! What a start from Croatia, and they take an early lead!
Again it's Ivica Olic down the left, he puts in a teasing cross which Nikica Jelavic miskicks, it hits Marcelo on the ankle behind him and goes in. That makes life very interesting.
Brazil win a corner, the referee interrupts it to stop some pushing between David Luiz and Nikica Jelavic, and the Croatians clear their lines. Busy start, Croatia looking very strong.

"It was a wonderful cross from Ivan Perisic on the right and Ivica Olic does everything right but hit the target. He heads it into the ground which you want him to do but his hands go up on his head as he knows it was a glorious chance."
What a chance! Croatia should be ahead! Ivan Perisic finds space on the right after good work from Luka Modric, he looks up and swings in a deep cross which cuts out the Brazil back four and is met by veteran Ivica Olic.
Olic scored in the 2002 finals and should score here - but heads down and wide. That would have been a bubble burster...
Brazil win a free-kick on the left wing and they work it well. Marcelo whips in a deep one, Thiago Silva spins away to meet it at the back stick, he heads back and David Luiz almost meets it well but in the end his connection is tame.
Ivica Olic does some fine work down the left and gets clear from Thiago Silva. He only has Nikica Jelavic in the middle but almost finds him with a sharp ball in, David Luiz covers well to nick the ball away from danger. Solid start from both sides.
We all love a bit of innovation don't we? And Fifa have thrown a few new toys at the World Cup this time around.
Referees will now be carrying a can of 'vanishing spray' in a holster to mark the point where free-kicks will be taken from, to cut down on encroachment.
And if it's hot enough we will have cricket style drinks breaks at 35 and 70 minutes. Selected broadcasters - not us of course - may even squeeze in a cheeky advert break mid match.

Mateo Kovacic has the first shot of the night, the Croatian midfielder spinning away into space and shooting wide from 20 yards. Dani Alves then starts a move down the right and the volume goes through the roof...

"I took my headphones off and could not believe the noise from the fans in the stadium - if ever Brazil needed an extra incentive- well there you've got one."
Nick: I was hoping for a Croatia result tonight until I saw that Brazilian national anthem. Spine tingling! Viva Brazil!
After a release of three doves - why not? - Croatia get the World Cup under way...
One of the great anthems that. Here we go then...
Google, external have launched a new website to provide an insight into what people are most interested in about the World Cup. Ahead of the opening game of the event, the top three Google searches in Brazil are what are the words for the Brazil national anthem, what are the Brazil games in the World Cup and how do you paint your nails like the Brazil flag?
Brazilian searches for nails painted with the national flag have apparently doubled in the weeks before the World Cup.
Brazil have one of the more recognisable anthems - 'Hino Nacional Brasileiro' - and it's rarely been heard with more volume.
Neymar is almost in tears as the strings pick up the pace. Dani Alves has his eyes welded shut.
This has been the moment most of these players have been dreaming about for the last seven years. So much emotion, even Big Phil himself looks moved.
On the Croatian bench, Eduardo has a moment to himself.
The whole stadium then sing the second verse after the music stops. That is awesome...
Croatia's anthem is 'Our Beautiful Homeland', which is met with mostly silence. That is about to change...

"Playing at the World Cup is the biggest. It's the highest level you can get to. We came so close with England in 1990, it would have been an amazing story if we had won it.
"Playing in the Champions League or winning the league championship with your club is fantastic, you become a part of your club, but when you represent your country at the World Cup, every country competes for this and without doubt winning it is the greatest achievement for a player."
Thiago Silva, understandably looking a bit nervous, lines up his side. And here they come, arm on each other's shoulders, like a troop of Elephants. Tremendous...
