This is Karim Benzema's World Cup debut by the way. He wasn't selected for 2010 and went on a 15-match drought over 16 months before scoring against Australia last October.

"That is a beautiful finish from Karim Benzema, it's lovely when they go into the top of the net like that. A clean strike from a man on top of his game. Mathieu Debuchy's initial shot lands to him perfectly and he hammers it away."

"Fantastic hit by Karim Benzema, smacked into the top of the net. It could be anything now, it could four or five if France decided to go for it."

    Wooosh! Pick that one out!

Mathieu Debuchy's piledriver is blocked in the goalmouth, it pops out to Karim Benzema who absolutely smashes the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Unstoppable. Benzema has two and a hand in the third.

It's Sunday League stuff now from Honduras. Kick their best players off the park. Maynor Figueroa hacks through the back of Mathieu Valbuena, who has been outstanding today.

Into the last 20 minutes - and there's another half penalty appeal as Patrice Evra and Maynor Figueroa challenge for a corner. Nothing given.

"When you're playing with a man advantage the temptation is to take extra touches on the ball but the real thing to do against 10 men is to play two-touch football and move the ball very quickly. After a great move Blaise Matuidi really should have put that away."

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:25 British Summer Time 15 June 2014

Yohan Cabaye is replaced by Antonio Mavuba for France, Cabaye has strong words with Didier Deschamps as he leaves the pitch, I'm not sure if that was about coming off, or the treatment Honduras are dishing out.

  9. CLOSE!published at 21:23 British Summer Time 15 June 2014

France have had 80% of possession in the second half. Honduras are all over the shop as France pull them over and Blaise Matuidi shoots into the side-netting.

Ben, Northumberland: Only problem with France's second goal was GoalRef telling us the ball wasn't over the line immediately after it hit the post. There was no need for it to do that. Fifa just need to train it when to give a verdict and we'll be fine. There are bound to be teething problems as these things are introduced.

A 2-0 win, no red cards and no injuries will do France nicely here. Just stay out of trouble, they'll be thinking.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 15 June 2014

Paul Pogba, on a booking remember, is brought off to protect him as Newcastle man Moussa Sissoko comes on. Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre then leaves a high boot on Mathieu Valbuena.

This Honduras team are on one...

  13. New to technology?published at 21:16 British Summer Time 15 June 2014

A reminder that this is the first time goal-line technology has been used at a World Cup with the German-manufactured GoalControl system being used to assist referees in Brazil.

Calls for the technology grew after Frank Lampard's goal was ruled out in England's 4-1 defeat by Germany in the 2010 World Cup.

The introduction of goal-line technology was approved in 2012, with the Premier League first utilising Hawkeye - a British system - for last season.

Feel free to find out more about goal-line technology with a feature on that very subject on the BBC Sport website.

"Again Antoine Griezmann shows his intelligence and quality there to drill the ball into the box - he is some find I tell you and I bet there are few clubs chasing him."

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:15 British Summer Time 15 June 2014

Karim Benzema almost has another after a lovely move down the left, but his effort is well saved this time by Noel Valladares, before Mathieu Valbuena slices wide.

There are goals to be had here.

"It's definitely gone over the line, but we were here waiting for the technology. By the naked eye it didn't look like it had crossed the line at first.

"When the ball hits the post it comes back and is not over the line, but then it hits the goalkeeper and now it is. That's the moment when the ball goes over."
