  3. Grief for Ghanapublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Ghana president John Dramani Mahama orders an official inquiry into the country's troubled World Cup campaign.

A 2-1 defeat by Portugal put the Black Stars out of the finals, a loss which had been preceded by the sending home of two Ghana players, Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng, for disciplinary reasons.

"We need to constitute a commission to shine the light on Ghana's World Cup campaign," said Mahama. "We have to see the whole process through to the end."

Paul: If Thiago Silva, Kroos or Vidal played for a Premier League club they wouldn't have made this squad. People get carried away with the hype surrounding big name players from foreign clubs, because they don't see them play regularly and see their flaws. There have been far better performers like Vlaar, Medel, Aranguiz and Ayew, but they are not as fashionable because of their clubs.

  5. Suarez banpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke, who has said that Luis Suarez should seek help to stop him from biting opponents, also disagrees with Giorgio Cheillini's view that the four-month ban handed to Suarez is "excessive".

Italy defender Cheillini was the player bitten by Suarez.

"You will always find someone who says it's excessive," Valcke said. "It's not only him who says it's excessive.

"They are decisions which are made by the disciplinary committee based on what they have seen. It's not just about the incident -- it was seen by hundreds of millions of people."

Asked if Suarez's club Liverpool were being unfairly punished by the sanction, he replied: "It's not Liverpool punished, it's the player being punished."

  7. Nani no more?published at 15:32 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Portugal winger Nani has admitted he could leave Manchester United with other clubs interested in signing him this summer.

The 27-year-old is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2018 but Arsenal have reportedly joined Inter Milan, Juventus and Benfica in the hunt for his services.

"I'm a United player but there has been some interest on my behalf," Nani said to Portuguese sports newspaper Abola. "I will evaluate it and decide what is the most advantageous for me. A return to Portugal? Right now I don't know."
