    "Liverpool are in advanced talks with Southampton over a deal for England midfielder Adam Lallana which could be completed in the next 24 hours.

    "Talks have now reached the final stage and both sides hope a £25m deal can now be completed swiftly.

    "Liverpool made two offers for the player before the World Cup began, but Southampton have reopened talks over a deal since the player returned from the tournament and reiterated his desire to join Liverpool.

    "The player is on his way to the Melwood training ground."

    A Galatasaray spokesman said: "The president has given a speech about it.

    "He said that we just spoke with David Moyes and he said that he can come to Galatasaray, but he is not one of the main targets for us.

    "They just spoke to each other, exchanging ideas - that it is it. It is true the president talked with David Moyes.

    "We are not in a rush - we are waiting for the end of the World Cup. The first two targets are [Germany coach] Joachim Low or [USA coach] Jurgen Klinsmann."

    A bit more on Luis Suarez - he has now returned to Uruguay and, on landing at a military base, was greeted by president Jose Mujica.

    Mujica had joined hundreds of fans who gathered at the airport on Thursday night to show their support for Suarez, but they departed after a few hours when it became clear he had not yet left Brazil.

    After his arrival on Friday, Suarez, his wife and other family members were driven to a home he has in the small coastal town of Solymar.

    Pep Guardiola believes Vicente Del Bosque is "the right man" to lead Spain forward after the European and world champions went out of the World Cup at the group stage.

    The Bayern Munich boss and former Spain midfielder revealed he was sad to see the demise of the team that won three successive international tournaments, but admitted that changes had to be made to the side.

    "Del Bosque is the best coach Spain could have and I hope he stays, because he is the right man to make the changes the team needs," said Guardiola.

    German legend Franz Beckenbauer has had his 90-day ban from any football-related activity lifted by Fifa, his manager said on Friday in a statement posted on Twitter.

    A World Cup winner as a player and a manager, Beckenbauer, 68, was suspended by world football's governing body on 13 June for breaching Fifa's code of ethics by his apparent refusal to co-operate in an investigation into the awarding of the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the controversial decision to give the 2022 tournament to Qatar.
