A draw apiece for the English teams and a 1-0 victory for Celtic then.

I don't think the scorelines quite do justice to a night of atmosphere, incident and entertaining football.

You can expect more of the same on Saturday with Liverpool, Manchester City in action after a cracking lunchtime Yorkshire derby between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds.

    See you there.

Elton in London: This Spurs squad is littered with players who hover aimlessly somewhere between 'average' and 'sub-par'. Worse than this is the fact that most of them were signed in a single transfer window.

Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic: "I am frustrated. For every club it is always good when you get a point away at White Hart Lane but I think we played great football. We dominated, we passed the ball well and we definitely deserved more than this point.

"From our point of view it was a really good game of football but especially in the first half you have to score the kind of chances we had. To beat such a big club away you have to score those chances but of course I am proud of my team."

Ross in Guildford: Has to be Dortmund, scoring the goal to win Bundesliga at the YELLOW WALL end.

Tony in Herts: Regarding which foreign club...Leeds...then back to Hartlepool.

The last few thoughts of the night on which foreign club you would choose to play for in your imaginary career.

    Well Jamie...

There is nothing specific in Law 14 of the 2014/15 laws of the game (page 44 of your handbook), external regarding "stuttering" in a player's penalty kick run-up.

In 2010 the law was clarified in order to prevent players from feinting to shoot.

"Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted," said Fifa's Jerome Valcke four years ago.

"However, feinting to kick the ball once the player has completed his run-up is now considered an infringement."

Graham Jack Thirkill:, external What is going on with defenders recently? Chelsea seem to be the only team doing it right at the moment.

Kevin Johnson:, external Clever penalty from Demba Ba but isn't there a rule against completely stopping on the run-up?

Jamie Gillies:, external I thought you weren't allowed to completely stop your run up in a penalty?

Tottenham goalscorer and striker Harry Kane: "It is always great to get on the scoresheet but we wanted to come away with a win and to concede that late goal is very disappointing. We have to move on and look to the next match.

"It's good that there is competition for places, the manager wants competition and whenever I get the chance I want to try and impress and score and I think I did that tonight but overall we are disappointed. We have to move one from this result."

Tottenham goalkeeper and tonight's captain Hugo Lloris: "Maybe it will be a clearer penalty on the replay. It was a tough game against a big Turkish team and maybe the teams deserved to draw. It's football - sometimes you don't play a great game but you have to know how to win. Today we went close but we conceded that late penalty. But now we have to refocus on a big game on Sunday."

"It was pulsating and exciting game, there was an attacking intent from the visitors, they chased the game and didn't just park the bus.

"Spurs somehow got themselves in front with a well taken goal from Kane and they had one or two chances in the second half to put it out of reach, but they didn't and it gave Besiktas hope.

"It was a poor mistake for Vlad Chiriches, he had a mistake in him all night and in the end it was just what Besiktas deserved."

Vlad Chiriches will owe a few of his Spurs team-mates an apology when they get back to the home dressing room.

Just four minutes away from holding out against a strong Besiktas side, he got himself in trouble by missing a header and then dug himself deeper in with his very own Webb Ellis moment., external

Lee: Hugo Lloris has been fantastic. In complete contrast, Vlad Chiriches is terrible. A centre back who gambles, lunges and leaves everything to the last minute.

Andy: Vlad Chriches is an absolute liability, how can he possibly be getting game time week-in, week-out at this level whilst regularly playing like this? Awful defender.

Matt in Romford: From league team to cup team, from cup team to...? Vlad Chiriches just isn't good enough.

    Andy in Oxford: Shocking defending

"Definitely a penalty, and Vlad Chiriches is lucky that's not more than a yellow card. Dreadful defending. He's always got a mistake in him, a work in progress or not. And what a time to do that.

"But, really, that goal is deserved. The referee was left with no choice but to give that penalty, and Demba Ba was as cool as you like. He simply passed the ball into the bottom corner and there might still be time for Besiktas to steal a late winner."
