Kane approaches the free-kick like Cristiano Ronaldo, chest on, goes for the dipper, and it flicks the head of Nathan Baker before wrong-footing Brad Guzan and dropping into the opposite corner.

"Aston Villa are dropping off now, they have got two banks of four with Gabriel Agbonlahor playing on his own up front. But they are not going to be too quick to get forward, they will just sit in and make it difficult for Spurs to dislodge them. Spurs have to just try and play those incisive passes around the box to find a way through."
Tottenham looking threatening since Villa went down to 10 men but they haven't created anything of note. Erik Lamela wants the ball and is a willing runner at the back four but Brad Guzan remains untroubled.
Gabriel Agbonlahor is on, a 16-minute tester for any defence when he gets up and running. Fast as a very fast thing, he replaces Charles N'Zogbia.
Siobhan, Teddington: I'm all for giving managers time but Ronald Koeman has had to pick up the pieces at Southampton and has got them motivated and second in the table. Spurs need to work hard and care about what they're doing.
Matt, North London: This is the worst Spurs team I have seen in decades. Danny Rose and Kyle Naughton must be candidates for the worst left and right-back in the Premier League. They should've replaced them and bought a striker in the summer. But no. Levy out!
Sean: Everyone says that Daniel Levy needs to give managers time but how can he when we have clueless Tottenham fans ridiculing every decision the manager makes? Get behind the manager and we'll build something. Was always going to be a year of transition.
Erik Lamela takes the free-kick from Spurs, 20 yards out, but he can't keep it down and on target. If it's not a 'rabona' it's no good for Lamela.
Harry Kane is scissored by Carlos Sanchez. The teams have had a collective 'heads gone' moment. Etienne Capoue is replaced by Andros Townsend as Spurs go for it.

Retribution from Andreas Weimann, who volleys Ryan Mason in the thighs near the touchline. A really poor tackle, and Weimann is booked for his troubles. May be more red cards on the agenda tonight yet...

"Christian Benteke raised his arm, and the referee was right on it. Benteke was frustrated with the challenge from Ryan Mason but he didn't need to react. Poor from him. Everything that has been good about Villa has come through Benteke, and now he will get a three-match ban as well. It was more of a push in the face, but the fourth official was three yards away from it."
Image source, AFPPaul Lambert is not a happy man on the sidelines, the Villa bench are furious about that red card. That's a three-game ban on the cards too for Christian Benteke - who had been the best player on the pitch prior to that.
