The second of Tottenham's homegrown duo, midfielder Ryan Mason, takes aim from 30 yards. He gets plenty of power and swerve into his effort, but can't beat Asmir Begovic at his near post.

Interesting little stat for you... the first match of Alan Irvine's managerial career was for Preston against Charlton, who were then managed by Alan Pardew. The Addicks won that one.

Samuel Eto'o in a free role is pulling all the strings for Everton, Sunderland just can't pick him up at all. Romelu Lukaku is enjoying playing alongside him but lashes a shot wastefully over the bar after good work.

Both of these sides look incredibly organised these days, zipping the ball about well - and West Brom again go close when Graham Dorrans stands up a cross into the box but Chris Burnt heads wide.

Darron Gibson - replacement for the injured Gareth Barry - has a goal in him and takes on a snapshot from range, deflected wide. Sunderland had a decent opening five minutes or so but since then the visitors have looked in control.

The home side coming into the game at The Hawthorns, Saido Berahino dropping off to get involved in the build-up. And involved he is, collecting a lay-off from Victor Anichebe and stinging the palms of Tim Krul with a rasping drive from 25 yards.

Stoke playing some marvellous counter-attacking football. The front three link up superbly, with Victor Moses streaming up on the overlap and seeing his shot deflected behind. It's very quiet at the Lane.

Not much of a response from Spurs since they fell behind. Jurgen Klinsmann is in the crowd though, a huge favourite at White Hart Lane. The US national team boss will be keeping an eye on Geoff Cameron.

After a lot of work, Gareth Barry is carried off on a stretcher with his right ankle heavily strapped. He is replaced by Darron Gibson.

Looks a serious one for Barry.

Newcastle are bossing proceedings now - a loose ball being pounced on by Sammy Ameobi on the edge of the box and the forward curls his effort onto the bar with keeper Ben Foster well beaten.

Jordi Gomez - hardly a hatchet man - catches Gareth Barry in midfield and is booked. It wasn't particularly malicious but Barry is in agony. He calls for a stretcher, in real pain. He's going to have to come off.

"Tottenham just back off and back off and nobody shuts him down. Bojan just drives right at the heart of the Tottenham defence. One of the centre halves has got to come out, they left Danny Rose too exposed.

"But it's a great strike by Bojan, no chance for Hugo Lloris in goal. Terrible start for Spurs. You would think the early goal would just play right into Stoke's hands."

Sanj:, external Spurs are losing. Quick - blame the Europa League.

Ryan Judson:, external It's pretty sad that I struggle to think of a poorer looking defence than the one Spurs roll out every week.

A great start for Stoke at White Hart Lane, but they are forced into an early change. Phil Bardsley has picked up a groin injury by the looks of it, and Geoff Cameron is on in his place.
