Matt, London: Really hoping Mehdi Abeid starts for Newcastle today. Has always had bags of potential but never given the chance. Alan Pardew surely can't ignore form though, and this kid could be great with a regular run in the team - deserves his place more than Vurnon Anita at the moment.

In such a fiercely competitive league, finishing in the middle should not be taken lightly. After all, Manchester United finished seventh last season.

But how does Mark Hughes improve on ninth for Stoke? Is there a danger of things getting, well, boring without the threat of relegation or the temptation of Europe to play on your mind?

We all remember Charlton regularly finishing in the top 10 under Alan Curbishley. I'm sure they would settle for those days returning.

But what do you expect from your team?

  4. The middle groundpublished at 12:02 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

    Good afternoon everyone.

    It's a mid-afternoon of mid-table matters - hopefully not mediocre ones - as the sides in ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 15th face each other.

But what are the objectives this season for Sunderland, Everton, Spurs, Stoke, West Brom and Newcastle?

Is staying up a success for Gus Poyet and Alan Irvine? Can Spurs and Everton challenge for the top four? What about Stoke and Newcastle?

Right then, I'll sign off with that unnecessarily artistic shot of Harry Kane and hand over to Tom Rostance to steer you through the afternoon's football.

There's not too long to find out if Mauricio Pochettino decides to give him the nod, with team news expected in just over 30 minutes.

  8. Too quick to judge?published at 11:46 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

It's fair to say that most of the Premier League managers who will be stood in their respective dugouts today have felt the heat after a run of poor results at sometime or another.

West Brom boss Alan Irvine was one of them, having failed to win any of his first four games in charge of the Baggies, but has turned things around with just one defeat in the last six league games.

"No-one is judged on a length of time, we are almost judged game to game. It's a bit sad," says Irvine. "People have used the phrase 'the fans were underwhelmed' and I understand all of that. I wasn't going from a position where they had a chance to assess what I was doing and could come to a conclusion. I was trying to change people's perceptions from when I came in."

Chin up Alan, win today and the Baggies are into the top half of the table.

Conor, London: An away fan managed to land a rolled up sock into my beer from 25 feet away in Monchengladbach.

Jack, London: I got hit on the head with a stick of celery (from a well known Chelsea song) at the 1997 FA Cup final.

Rob, Warrington: I was at Goodison Park, we were 1-0 down to Southampton with minutes remaining. The ball came to me in the crowd, and as it was our throw in we needed a quick return of the ball. I threw it towards David Unsworth but it didn't quite reach and bounced off the pitch-side curb, back over my head and into the crowd. Everyone was livid!

The late kick-off today sees Swansea host Arsenal, which also sees Swans keeper Lukasz Fabianski line up against his former side for the first time since moving to the Liberty Stadium.

"It's all about the game, it's all about three points," he says. "When I get to the tunnel and see some of my former team-mates - my friends really - standing on the opposite side then it will be a funny experience for me."

Tom, Farnborough: I took a girl on a date to Craven Cottage, we were behind the goal, the goalkeepers were warming up and a wayward strike brushed past the post and hit my date square in the face whilst she was about to drink from the overly expensive hot chocolate I had just got her. It pretty much exploded, much to the entertainment of the crowd! The obligatory "wrrreeeyyyy" from everyone was highly embarrassing for her, especially as i joined in.... she left... I followed... she went home.. I missed the game and we never spoke again.

  16. Everton in a false position?published at 11:06 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Everton are yet to match the standards they set last season, with Roberto Martinez's side 10th in the Premier League ahead of this afternoon's trip to Sunderland.

They won just one of their first seven Premier League fixtures, but have improved in recent weeks and a win against the Black Cats would be their third in four league games.

Asked if Everton are in a false position, Martinez says: "We are - but then also, you are in the table where you deserve to be. Early on, defensively some of the aspects of our play cost us a few points, and that is what the table shows. But now we have conceded one goal in five games and I think we are looking really solid as a side."

It is great to hear that yesterday's incident had a happy conclusion, but what is the most unfortunate thing to have happened to you at a football match?

Being hit by a wayward pie that was aimed at the pitch, perhaps? Buying a chicken balti pie only to take it to your seat and discover it was meat and potato?

It doesn't have to be pie-related, of course, but whatever the unfortunate thing to have happened to you was, let us know via #bbcfootball, external or text in on 81111
