Christian Eriksen has just picked up the man of the match award.

If a Tottenham player, rather than one of the hard-working Hull team, is going to get it, then he is the man.

A very healthy pass completion rate (92.2%), five chances created and the winning goal. Not too much to argue about there.

Referee Craig Pawson and his linesmen are waiting in the middle of the pitch for Tottenham to finish applauding their fans and depart the scene.

They might be best to take their time. The home fans and Steve Bruce will want a word about the red card that changed the game.

"This might kickstart Tottenham's season, but I'm not totally convinced by them. They were disjointed at times, but because the Premier League is so tight a couple of wins and you are right back in there. It's a big win for them, but it hinged on the sending off and I'm sure Steve Bruce will have something to say on that. If Hull had got that second goal in the first half it might have been different."

    The Hull defence finally cracks.

Christian Eriksen is the man who picks the lock, drilling home from 20 yards after the hosts sit deeper and deeper.

Half-hearted appeals from the visitors as Aaron Lennon lifts the ball into Curtis Davies. More chest than hand.

Erik Lamela looks like he has controlled the ball in the box. He has, but with his arm. A free-kick which Allan McGregor will take his time over.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2014

One to eat up the clock. Stephen Quinn is on to replace Robbie Brady and immediately trots across to mark Aaron Lennon.

Erik Lamela shows too much of the ball to Robbie Brady as he attempts to thread it through to Vlad Chiriches.

When Chiriches does get time and space to look up, Allan McGregor gets out and up to claim the cross.

    Tottenham toiling, Hull surviving.

Tottenham scored twice in the second half to come back and claim a win away to Aston villa earlier this month after Christian Benteke had been sent off for the hosts.

Paul in London: I feel for Mauricio Pochettino. Spurs must look terrific in training, but that's because our defenders are all so clueless that they make Roberto Soldado look like Pele. How do you work on something in training if your players are incapable of taking on basic concepts?

Rich in Maidstone: looks like referees are going to bail Spurs out every time they are behind away from home this season.

Dan in London: It's great that Kane scored. But if it stays like this it's a poor result for Spurs.

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

"There's only so many times you can say with Roberto Soldado is 'getting into the right areas'. You have to judge a striker on his goals record."

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:36 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2014

A brief bit of confusion on the Spurs bench, but it is Roberto Soldado, rather than Erik Lamela, who will make way to allow Paulinho a run-out. A bit of a strange one with the game apparently there for the taking.
