Some rare respite from the busy Hull defence - and their attacking colleagues almost return from the other end with the lead restored.
Ahmed Elmohamady's skidding cross is volleyed just over the top by Nikica Jelavic.
Tottenham's Erik Lamala shows and goes, skipping inside Liam Rosenoir and into the box, but his effort streaks over the bar. He should have done better, even on his weaker right.
This is where the game was played in the five minutes following Gaston Ramirez's red. It has been a game-changer.
All Tottenham now. Harry Kane gets between Curtis Davies and Michael Dawson but directs his far-post header wide, before Ryan Mason brings a good save out of Allan McGregor from distance.
Paul Charles:, external Harry Kane. Always in the right place at the right time. That's 90% of being a striker.
Liam Harris:, external Cue the Harry Kane for England euphoria...
Thomas Rimer:, external Roberto Soldado is a poacher who couldn't poach an egg.
Roberto Soldado's Tottenham career continues to perplex. The formerly prolific Spaniard duffs a horrible attempt wide after being picked out in the middle by Vlad Chiriches' cross.

"Hull could really do with someone up front who could hold the ball up for then. Nikica Jelavic has run around, chased and harried but they need a player with presence to take the pressure of the defence. Steve Bruce needs to do something - it's just wave after wave of attacks from Spurs now."
Hull make a second change with Tom Huddlestone, walking the yellow card tightrope, off and Liam Rosenior on.
Hull tempers are fraying. Tom Huddlestone goes into the book for a high foot, while Jake Livermore has been booked for a bit of post-goal back-chat.

"Harry Kane can't stop scoring can he? He's not had the best of games today, but he's once again in the right place at the right time. The ball rebounded back off the post and there's nothing Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor could do about that."
Christian Eriksen is the source of Totttenham's leveller.
The Dane whips a fantastic shot over the wall and against the post from 25 yards out. Allan McGregor was beaten all ends up and the only touch he gets on the ball is to accidentally direct the rebound straight to Harry Kane.
He slots in the rebound from five yards for parity.
Mauricio Pochettino sees Steve Bruce change and takes it as the signal to sharpen his own side's attacking edge. Aaron Lennon on in place of Mousa Dembele.
A teaser of a cross from Ben Davies proves frustratingly out of the range of Roberto Soldado's outstretched leg. It was a matter of a few inches though.
Steve Bruce has decided that his 10 men cannot afford to include a luxury like Hatem Ben Arfa. The Frenchman is hooked with the less subtle skills of David Meyler thrown into the mix instead.
Hull could have been two or three to the good. Now it feels like a siege is brewing.
Steve Bruce is exasperated with the decision to send off Gaston Ramirez. It could well be a turning point and Ramirez, while provoked, has to bear some of the blame.

"It was a David Beckham-esque kick out by Gaston Ramirez but nowhere as aggressive. It was quite a soft sending off really with minimal contact but by the letter of the law I guess the referee has to send him off. With the extra man Spurs should dominate and make the pitch wide."
The red mist descended for Gaston Ramirez and the red card climbs out of Craig Pawson's pocket.
The Uruguayan was ruffled by the attentions of Mousa Dembele and Ben Davies and is tipped over the edge by Jan Vertonghen easing his knee into him as he lay on the floor.
Ramirez reacts by kicking out at Vertonghen, the linesman spots the retaliation and that is curtains for the Hull midfielder.
Michael Dawson crunches in to dispossess Harry Kane just as the Spurs striker cocks his left foot on the edge of the box. Nicely timed with little margin for error.
Sonawane Mahesh:, external Now Spurs fans want their manager fired, Daniel Levy will oblige, Spurs will keep doing what they've been doing for years, stay ordinary.
Ian Marks:, external I've never seen a Spurs team so narrow, lifeless and one-dimensional. January needs to be a busy month.
David Whale:, external Spurs playing like they were only introduced to each other in the dressing room.
