Jarnus, Derby: In 2004 I played in an U15 Derby Saturday League cup semi-final, the winner would progress to the final which would take place at Derby County's old ground, the Baseball Ground, in one of the last games to be played there before it was knocked down. Our team was 4-2 down against the cup favourites with five minutes to play. We levelled the game in a frantic injury time with two goals to make it 4-4. In extra-time we missed a penalty and had a goal disallowed. Eventually ended up losing 6-4, and missing out on the final and a once in a lifetime opportunity to play at the Baseball Ground. Gutted.

Has your Sunday League team triumphed with 10 men? Or maybe your junior side beat a local heavyweight? Ever scored the winner? Or fluffed a great chance with glory in your sights?

"Sergio Aguero has been incredible for Manchester City this season. He has produced the goods week after week. It would be a massive blow if he is out. I have to admit that I did fear the worse when I saw the physio but I hope it's not doo bad."

Adam, Manchester: We played a Sunday league cup final at Stalybridge's Bower Fold with about 5 fans in tow. The opposition had coach loads of half cut followers and a manager suited up with club colour tie. It was 5 nil to us at half time, 7 by the end. They weren't too happy.

Danny Stuart: I scored the only goal for my team in the whole of a year 10 house football competition. We should have won 1-0 but the lack of full kit from three of our players led to a 3-1 loss by default. Not bitter....

Gareth Coogan: The only goal I ever scored was a complete miss kick that ended up lobbing the keeper from about 4 yards. That goal was the winner in the under 16s Glendale cup final.

  6. Aguero injury mars Man City winpublished at 11:24 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Manchester City closed the gap on leaders Chelsea to three points by beating Everton 1-0 yesterday, but it came at a potentially huge cost.

Striker Sergio Aguero injured knee ligaments in the game when challenging with Muhamed Besic in the third minute and left the pitch in tears.

He is almost certain to miss Wednesday's Champions League game with Roma and, while there is no confirmation on the length of time he is set to be out for, social media this morning is awash with speculation that it could be anterior cruciate ligament damage.

Very bad news if true, we will keep you updated.

  7. Do Chelsea need a plan B?published at 11:15 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Former Chelsea captain Ruud Gullit on MOTD: "The problem for Chelsea is that they are going to face more teams like this away from home. They have already faced Sunderland and only managed a draw so the question is what are you going to do against it?

    Jose MourinhoImage source, Getty Images

"If Chelsea play with so many players through the middle and it doesn't end up working then you have to have a plan B.

"When Didier Drogba came on it changed their formation because they had two players up front, Drogba and Diego Costa but it just didn't seem to work for them. Jose Mourinho did change things eventually but it was too late."

Chris Sawford: Yorkshire Puddings. In our very first season in 6-a-side, we finished bottom of the bottom division. No wins, no draws. Our cup run though took us all the way to the final, where we met the 'premiership champions' of our six a side leagues. We took the team 3 leagues above us to penalties after a 3-3 draw. One of our players hit the bar in sudden death. Cruel. We lost in the final the year after too. To the same team.

Louie: Classic school cup semi final at Hackney Marshes against our rivals. Seemingly going to penalties at 2-2 in extra time, cross comes in and there I am to volley home to send us into the final. We lost it 5-0. Louie

Marie-Ann Mcinnes: I once scored the winning pen in the Aberdeen hospital 5-a-side tourney - my greatest and perhaps only sporting achievement!

  9. "Chelsea missed Matic"published at 11:10 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

    Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer
    Match of the Day

"Chelsea didn't play that well. There is no doubt they missed Nemanja Matic. He has started every game for them this season but John Mikel Obi was in there against Newcastle and didn't do as well. In the build-up to Newcastle's second goal, Mikel dives in, Eden Hazard dives in. There is no one sitting in front of the back four.

"That said it was a really committed Newcastle performance. They were really well organised and every player knew what job they had to do. It was a thoroughly deserved win."

  10. Blame it on the ball boys?published at 11:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Yesterday started with a bang as Premier League leaders Chelsea lost their unbeaten run to Newcastle, with Alan Pardew's side winning 2-1.

It was a result that understandably irked Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, but not as much as the apparent antics of the ball boys.

"Things were happening that the referee cannot control," says Mourinho. "He cannot punish the ball boy that disappears, the people in the crowd that keep the ball or somebody that throws a second ball on to the pitch."

"If you go to Stoke you are going to have roll your sleeves up, fight, scrap and battle. Arsenal did not do that. It was a shambles, embarrassing...whatever words you want to use. It was laughable. They're are 3-0 down, it was really was shambolic.

"Until Arsene Wenger improves Arsenal defensively they have no chance of winning the league. Having said that I still think they will finish in the top four because that is what they do."

  14. Gunners 'missed start of game'published at 10:53 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

    Arenem Wenger

Five goals, a penalty, a disallowed goal and a sending off, yesterday's game between Stoke and Arsenal had pretty much everything.

The Gunners conceded three times in the first half - including a goal after just 19 seconds - before mounting a fightback after the break, but could not prevent Stoke from winning 3-2.

It was a cracking game for the neutral, not so much for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who felt his defence was "too soft". "I think we were a bit inexperienced at the back," he said.

Andrew Langley: In a cup final in a South Tyneside league it was 0-0 when I won a heavy 50:50 challenge in the middle of the park. The ball had popped and was going down. It just had enough air in for me to thread a pass through to our striker who stroked it into the net. The ball was completely deflated when the keeper picked it out of the net. We won 1-0.

Craig Connolly: I once missed 2 penalties in the same penalty shootout to cost the under 12s Cubs B team the cup final. It was my 7th and 8th missed penalties of the season (I was captain so insisted on taking all penalties)

    Sunday TelegraphImage source, Sunday Telegraph

The Sunday Telegraph has been speaking to Manchester City academy director Brian Marwood, external about the club £150m training complex.

There is a room where there are 'computers where players can analyse their own performances, and study their next opponents'.

Marwood says: "We made the windows of the room large so that any other player walking past can see 'he's in there, I should be too'.

"The younger ones can see the first team, sense them. We want them to think: 'I want to be next to Vincent Kompany.' It's inspirational."

There will be more on Manchester City's new academy on the BBC Sport website soon.

  18. Top four for Man Utd?published at 10:37 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Mail on SundayImage source, Mail on Sunday

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle has been giving his view on Manchester United. The Old Trafford club are currently fourth in the league but Hoddle does not think it is as cut and dry as people think that United will stay there and claim a Champions League place.

He tells the Daily Mail:, external "The problem for United is no matter how formidable the attacking threat, everyone feels that they have a chance against them because of their defensive weakness. Certainly Southampton will on Monday."

He adds: "There is a growing assumption that United will now make the top four, which probably was the key target for the club after dipping to seventh place last season, an unprecedented low in the modern era.

"My feeling is that it will still be very much nip and tuck for them at the end of this campaign; that they may well make the cut but they will just squeeze over the line rather than make it comfortably."

  19. Tell us your cup memoriespublished at 10:30 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Ryan Lord: Under 12s for my old club Stanwix FC. Had been playing in goal the whole tournament. Hadn't conceded a goal all tournament and ended up in the final. The semi-final I was the hero, saving all 3 pens in the penalty shootout but that soon changed to a Villain! During the final I heard something happen behind my goal on another pitch, I turned round and looked and unfortunately the team I was playing shot and it went in....went on to lose the final 1-0......devastating.
