Forest matchwinner Ben Osborn, speaking to Sky Sports: "All my mates are Derby fans. I was getting messages from them last night saying: 'Don't score the winner.' The manager gave a team talk at the hotel before the game, and it was quite emotional."

Tottenham make two changes to the side that lost to Crystal Palace in the Premier League last time out. Eric Dier comes into defence for Fazio while Roberto Soldado replaces Andros Townsend. Emmanuel Adebayor is on the bench.

The big team news, probably as far as both sides are concerned, is that former Spurs striker Jermain Defoe makes his debut for Sunderland.

Tottenham XI: Lloris; Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose; Dembele, Stambouli; Chadli, Kane, Eriksen; Soldado.

Sunderland XI: Pantilimon, Jones, van Aanholt, Brown, O'Shea, Vergini, Larsson, Rodwell, Johnson, Fletcher, Defoe.

Nottingham Forest hadn't won since 22 November. They had suffered four straight defeats. There was talk of Stuart Pearce's job being on the line. That, I have to say, is some response. A terrific, hard-won derby victory. Typical Psycho, you might say.

"A great finish! Has the keeper been done at the near post, after a great break, a lovely move down the left side? It was a clean, hard strike at the near post and Grant gets done. He should not be beaten at the near post - I'm surprised the ball's found its way into the net..."

Steven Gerrard is not included in the Liverpool squad for today's game against Aston Villa but Raheem Sterling starts.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Markovic, Moreno, Lucas, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Borini

A sensational finish at the iPro Stadium. Derby lose the ball in midfield, and youngster Ben Osborn surges towards goal, before firing a shot that somehow beats keeper Lee Grant at the near post. It's Osborn's first senior goal. What a day for him. What a boost that will give Forest's under-pressure manager Stuart Pearce.

Chances have been hard to come by for Derby since half-time, and that was a difficult one for Chris Martin. Craig Forsyth's free-kick into the penalty area is helped on by Richard Keogh, and Martin escapes Kelvin Wilson's attentions but volleys over on the stretch. Stoppage time...

  8. BREAKING TEAM NEWSpublished at 14:03 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

Striker Radamel Falcao returns to the Manchester United side for the trip to QPR.

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Valencia, Carrick, Mata, Blind, Rooney, Di Maria, Falcao.

Steven Gerrard rested, Emmanuel Adebayor back and Radamel Falcao returns? Those are the rumours but we will have official team news from the 15:00 GMT games coming up shortly...

"Forest have showed a lot of pluck and spirit throughout this game, and they've got themselves back in it."

Derby manager Steve McClaren makes an anxious phone call from his seat in the stand. From the look on his face, whatever message he is trying to impart is not getting through. Forest, who have been much livelier in the second half, deserve to be level. Could they yet sneak a first win since 22 November?

"Britt Assombalonga got the luck of the bounce, the ball rose in front of him and he turned and hit it. Grant got a big, big hand to it but the ball trickled over the line. That will be a relief to him and to everyone involved at Forest. You could see that coming - this game is now very much in the balance."

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2015

Derby manager Steve McClaren has responded to the loss of his lead by throwing on Darren Bent, who is on loan from Aston Villa. McClaren, who normally sets up his side with a central striker and two wide players, looks to have gone to a two-man attack, with Bent alongside Chris Martin.

Remember Stuart Pearce's air-punching celebration after scoring in the penalty shootout against Spain at Euro 96? He is almost as animated as that in the Forest dugout at Derby as Britt Assombalonga turns in a loose ball from eight yards after the home side fail to deal with a free-kick pumped into the penalty area. Forest have really scrapped their way back into this one.

"Jermain Defoe made a mistake. He went out to Canada too soon. You go out there when you are dried out and finished and he isn't.

"He has scored on every debut he has ever made, and who's to say he won't do it again against his old club Spurs?"

Jermain Defoe, sporting large padded headphones, is warmly greeted by Spurs stewards as he steps off the Sunderland bus at White Hart Lane, and then in the tunnel by former team-mate Brad Friedel.

Former Tottenham striker Defoe is expected to make his Sunderland debut today after signing from Toronto FC.

"Derby have started to settle down again after a nervous 10 minutes. Even the crowd realised they could possibly do a little bit more for their team, so they roused themselves and all of a sudden County are back on top."

Jamie Ward is looking lively in attack for Derby, creating space for himself on the edge of the penalty area with a couple of neat touches before firing a shot over the bar. At the other end, Forest midfielder Ben Osborn has a very optimistic penalty appeal rejected - TV replays show that Craig Forsyth was turning away from the ball and that it didn't hit his hand anyway. Lots of huffing and puffing from both teams - it's hard to fault their effort - but neither goalkeeper is getting very much to do.

Earlier we held a vote on who you would pick to partner Wayne Rooney up front if England were playing tomorrow. Harry Kane was the overwhelming winner, with 57%.

Chris Denton: Harry Kane is England's best chance of winning the World Cup, and Tottenham's best chance of finishing fourth.

Paul Hansen: England have NEVER picked players on form, always on 'brand name' and club. Reason they always fail at finals.

Andrew Newton: Form is temporary class is permanent #Nugent #Jeffers #Ricketts.

"Derby are really good at winning that second ball, however it drops. They have really good anticipation and read the ball really well.

"But there has been a bit of a lull in this game, a but of a dip. And that might give the Forest players a bit of belief that they can get back into this game."
