It sounds like Sheffield United will be keeping attacks to minimum tonight but if they do get a chance expect Marc McNulty to be involved.

The forward has enjoyed a superb first season at the Blades and scored the winner against Southampton in the previous round, as well as bagging in the recent FA Cup win against QPR.

In total, McNulty has scored 10 goals in 27 appearances.

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are a bit later than we would have liked. We stayed five miles away and it took us two-and-a-half hours. How will it affect us? I'll tell you after 10 minutes. We used to have this problem a lot when I was playing and had the kit on the bus.

"We have had our breaks in the cup games certainly more than in the league. The approach is to stay in the tie, that is the most important thing. If we can go get a goal we will do but the main thing is to ensure we keep it close for the return leg."

On the back of Sheffield United's impressive record against Premier League sides, what is the most memorable giant-killing your side has achieved?

Steve, Wakefield: How's about Scarborough beating Chelsea 3-2 in the League Cup in October 1989?

Chris, Bradford: Of course the biggest upset was Bradford going all the way to Wembley in 2013 beating Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa over two legs. Even 5-0 in the final couldn't diminish the memories of that run!

Nick, Yorkshire: It WILL be Cambridge United beating Manchester United reserves this Friday in the FA Cup...

A bit of adrenaline may have been wasted by the late kick-off drama so it might be worth the Sheffield United players having a bit of a breather before kick-off, as they may need to conserve energy given Tottenham's habit of scoring late goals this season.

Christian Eriksen's late winner against Sunderland on Saturday means Spurs have now earned 10 Premier League points thanks to goals in the 88th minute or later.

It's all good for Sheffield United as the players are out on the pitch going through their warm-up routine. How late do you have to be before a decision is made to change into your kit on the bus?

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough, speaking to the club's website: "The priority is to stay in the tie. We must give ourselves a chance coming back to Bramall Lane. That is the incentive. I don't think we are equipped to defend for 90 minutes, we are not that sort of team. Any time we have gone away and done well we have not been under the cosh for the whole game. Spurs are capable of putting us under the cosh for 90 minutes, but I am hoping it does not work out like that.

"I think being two goals down still gives us a chance. If it's three goals then you are talking beyond, but to be two goals down, and then get a goal in the home tie, anything happens from there."

On the back of Sheffield United's impressive record against Premier League sides, what is the most memorable giant-killing your side has achieved?

Paul Flynn, Sheffield: The second greatest moment of my footballing life was when Port Vale beat Spurs 2-1 back in 1988. A fantastic goal by the legend and midfield maestro Ray Walker sealed the victory. The greatest moment was also in the cup when we beat our nearest rivals Stoke 3-1. The hairs on the back of my neck are still standing.

Tim, Battersea: Re: 18:30 - I was at Sheffield University in 1993. Went to that match on a cold March night, temperature seemed to drop five degrees every time United scored. Everyone in my lecture class the next morning knew I was a Spurs fan. Happy memories...

  9. Premier League players 'too soft'published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

If Tottenham players don't fancy getting stuck into a bit of a physical tussle tonight, they will hope Jose Baxter does not come off the bench for Sheffield United.

The midfielder reckons the Premier League is too soft and says he has got no time for the 'matey-matey' football played in the top flight.

"Premier League teams aren't used to getting barged about, people in the faces, kicking them and not helping them up when they get kicked. It works for us," says Baxter., external "There's a lot of matey matey stuff in the Premier League. I've got a couple of mates in football but I don't like it at all - hugging and kissing each other before games and all that."

Matthew Parkin: How can Adebayor with zero leadership skills be appointed captain? It's an insult to the other 10 players!

  12. "Adebayor is... different"published at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

Former Spurs and England midfielder Jermaine Jenas
BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane

"I think Emmanuel Adebayor will look back at certain parts of his career and feel disappointed he has not gone on to be the great he could have been. He has been... what is the word I'm looking for... a 'different' character at times. He is the kind of player who gets off to a flyer when a new manager comes in, but then inevitably his form drips away."

What is the most memorable giant-killing your side has achieved?

Freddy Harper-Davis: Plymouth's biggest ever giant killing was when we beat West Brom away in the 1983-84 FA Cup. Got all the way to the semi-finals.

Anthony Barrett: For Milton Keynes, beating Manchester United 4-0 in the League Cup earlier on in this year's tournament.

David Palmer: Has to be Manchester Untied 0-1 Leeds United FA Cup third round 2010. The first side from League One to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.

There's also Scottish Premiership action with four games taking place.

Celtic can return to the top of the table with a home victory over Motherwell - a result the visitors will be desperate to avoid as they battle against being dragged into the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, second-bottom St Mirren bid to stretch their three-point advantage over basement side Ross County, who are not in action this midweek. The Buddies are up against Dundee United, who have ambitions of their own. The Tangerines will return to third place if they win in Paisley.

Partick Thistle host high-flying Hamilton Academical and Kilmarnock visit fellow bottom six side Dundee.

  17. What's going on elsewhere?published at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

Well we might have a kick-off delay in the League Cup, but there's no such concern in the two games in the Championship taking place later.

Ipswich could go top of the Championship if they win at Brighton, who have not won at home since 1 November. Mick McCarthy's side are third with 50 points and taking three points will be enough to knock Bournemouth off top spot.

Meanwhile, Fulham host a Nottingham Forest side looking to build on their impressive win against rivals Derby last time out. That was Stuart Pearce's side's first win in nine games.

Both of those kick-off at 19:45 GMT and we'll keep you updated of the scores from those games.

  18. Delay to favour Sheffield United?published at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

Former Spurs and England midfielder Jermaine Jenas
BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane

"A kick-off delay can work both ways, a lot of players like to get there early and enjoy the moment, and a lot of players have rituals they like to stick to. But on the flip side, too much time can play on your nerves. Sheffield United are going to have to turn up get themselves ready and just play the game, and it might work in their favour, who knows?"
