    Bradley Allen
Tottenham academy coach on BBC London 94.9

"I still think Mourinho could bring on Didier Drogba and Loic Remy. I think he'll give it 10 minutes to see if Ramires - who has come on for Oscar - can have an influence with those forward runs from midfield. It's still a tough task ahead for Spurs. This is a big 45 minutes for them."

James Lindsay:, external Chelsea will not win the title with a defender like Cahill. Made at least one critical mistake in each of the three goals.

Shabstar10:, external Gary Cahill late on Rose for the second goal, should have been a yellow card. Then late on Kane for the penalty - should be off.

Sam Watts:, external Chelsea's poor away performances finally getting noticed. Lampard will be a champion come May.

Sam Payne:, external Lack of pace from Terry, mistakes from Cahill beginning to creep in. Lamps staying at Man City and scoring today. Doesn't get worse.

Chelsea have been at the top of the Premier League since 18 August. Yet they are 45 minutes away from ending the first day of a new year second, behind Manchester City.

  5. Postpublished at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

Jose Mourinho could do worse than ring up Sean Dyche and ask the Burnley manager to talk to the Chelsea players at half-time. They need a Clarets-like comeback now.

Imagine that booming, gravelly voice over speakerphone in the dressing room.

Phil Hakim:, external Five academy players in the Spurs starting line-up, four of them eligible for England, three of them have scored. Just saying.

Kaushik Gorai:, external Harry Kane absolutely destroying Chelsea here. He can be world class. But, he needs to be kept grounded. Stick with the basics.

Ed Dymott:, external Only a Tottenham fan can be on the one hand delirious but on the other convinced we are going to mess this up!

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

    Bradley Allen
Tottenham academy coach on BBC London 94.9

"Harry Kane's equaliser gave Tottenham confidence. They've pressed and harried. Chelsea have been poor in possession. That's given Tottenham the ball and they've broken at speed. But are three goals enough for Spurs? Will they need a fourth or a fifth? Chelsea will have a spell. Jose Mourinho will make changes.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Mourinho puts Didier Drogba and Loic Remy on. He would rather lose this 8-7 if he is seen to be going for it. We're going to see a basketball match. It's totally against his beliefs, I know, but Manchester City have won today and this is a London derby. It kills him to play expansive football, but he won't want to lose this game."

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

    Steve Claridge
BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane

"Chelsea haven't played badly. But Tottenham hung in there and got a wonderful goal. I can understand why Jose Mourinho is worried."

    Steve Claridge
BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane

"What a fantastic finish to the half for Tottenham. For 10 minutes, they looked out of it, but they've maintained a bit of composure, and they've taken the game by the scruff of the neck. I like their system, I like their personnel."

Andros Townsend steps up and shows real composure to put the ball into the bottom corner, beyond the reach of Thibaut Courtois. That goal has rocked Chelsea who, as it stands, are now second in the Premier League. Manchester City go top.

  14. PENALTY FOR TOTTENHAMpublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

Harry Kane nips in front of Gary Cahill in the penalty area and is felled. Penalty.

    Danny RoseImage source, Reuters

Danny Rose has been getting some stick on Twitter, but he's the toast of the Lane (and the blue half of Manchester) now. The flying full-back is johnny on the spot to sidefoot the ball into an empty net after Nacer Chadli had hit the post. It all came from Christian Eriksen's driving run from midfield. Jose's looking a little perplexed now.

  16. Postpublished at 18:13 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

Harry Kane is the buzz of the BBC football desk. Some think he's the real deal, but others point to the promise once shown by Julian Joachim and Danny Cadamarteri. Which camp are you in?

  17. Tottenham 1-1 Chelseapublished at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

    Steve Claridge
BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane

"Cesc Fabregas hasn't really got into the game yet. In terms of a Chelsea threat, it's Diego Costa and Eden Hazard who have caused all the problems so far.

"I've been to White Hart Lane a number of times this season, and seen Tottenham make it very hard work for themselves at home, but this has been a different kettle of fish altogether."

  18. Postpublished at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

Are Tottenham on for another here? Nacer Chadli is through on goal and puts the ball through the keeper's legs but it hits the base of the post as the flag goes up for offside.

  19. Tottenham 1-1 Chelseapublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

    Bradley Allen
Tottenham academy coach on BBC London 94.9

"Chelsea are finishing the half strongly. This has been a good response from them since Tottenham's equaliser."

  20. Tottenham 1-1 Chelseapublished at 18:08 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2015

    Steve Claridge
BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane

"Apart from that 10 minutes or so when they lost the plot, Tottenham have been brave in possession. They're playing the ball out from the back when under pressure from Chelsea. You have to be brave; you have to do that. You can't keep giving the ball back to Chelsea by just clearing it under pressure."
