At Villa Park for BBC Radio 5 live

"A good start from Villa, committing men forward and good intensity to win the ball back.

"I really do have a lot of sympathy for Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric, he is making a lot of runs with no real quality going in to him."

  2. CLOSE!published at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

That got Tim Sherwood on the edge of his seat! Aston Villa are straight on the attack as Fabian Delph, unmarked, rises to meet a cross but heads it onto the roof of the net. Closest they have been though, Sherwood's half-time chat doing the business?

  3. Postpublished at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Former Leicester and Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey
Match of the Day at Villa Park

"Aston Villa had most of the possession but Leicester created all the chances. It's been hard for Christian Benteke. He needs a goal,. He had the ball in the net when he was offside but he just needs more service. What a save that was from Shay Given. Everyone thought it was in. It was a spectacular save. Villa need more tempo in the final third, and Leicester, they just have to keep getting those crosses in."

  4. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Back under way. If we are witnessing the eventual FA Cup winner in this game, I'll eat my hat. Stranger things have happened though.

  5. Postpublished at 13:32 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Dion Dublin
former Aston Villa and Leicester City striker, Match of the Day at Villa Park

"This is a good chance for Villa to progress in this competition. Tim Sherwood's the new manager, and he's got every right to go down there to the dressing room and tell the players to pull their finger out."

    Aston Villa

Hope for Aston Villa, they have good FA Cup pedigree at home. Can they sneak a goal in the second half?

  7. Postpublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Kevin Kilbane
    BBC Radio 5 live

"I'm told by a very good source that the pitch has actually improved over the last couple of weeks. But I don't think there is anything wrong with Bradford playing to their strengths.

"They do play good football, they do have players who can play with the ball at their feet, so the pitch might not be to their advantage.

"But it's not necessarily a bad thing playing direct football - going quick up to your strikers, who can create things."

  8. Postpublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Coming up in an hour's time is the day's second FA Cup match. Will it offer more excitement?

  9. Postpublished at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Robbie Savage
former Wales international, Match of the Day at Villa Park

"It was a disappointing first-half. Leicester were the more progressive, they hit the post, forced a great save from Shay Given and should have had a penalty."

James Sanders:, external On this evidence, Tim Sherwood is probably thinking "will thirteen 0-0 draws be enough to keep us up?". Villa lack creativity.

Stephen:, external Decent game. One of those matches that feels like a game of chess.

James Reid:, external Wonder if Sherwood could entice Alan Shearer out of his contract at the Beeb to become attacking coach at Aston Villa.

  11. Goalless againpublished at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Aston villa

It seems Tim Sherwood left early in that half to dive down to the Aston Villa dressing room. He is there now apparently, passing on a few of his thoughts on that first-half display.

Another goalless first-half for Villa, quite the task ahead for Sherwood.

  12. Postpublished at 13:24 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Former England captain Alan Shearer

"This team must be a nightmare to play in as a centre forward. Christian Benteke goes up for a header and the midfield are nowhere near him. None of them are prepared to make a run off him. They have to get closer.

"Benteke is constantly fighting three centre-halves without any luck and without any help. He is fighting a losing battle."

  13. Postpublished at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Jason Roberts
At Villa Park for BBC Radio 5 live

"Aston Villa have shown they can approach the game in different way. They have dominated possession and allowed Benteke to drift deep and play balls out wide to Weimann and Bacuna.

"Leicester need to commit more men forward because when they do they have shown they can cause Villa problems."

  14. Postpublished at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Former England captain Alan Shearer

"Where do I start? Other than the great save from Shay Given it's been dreadful. A bore.

"We saw Tim Sherwood going down to the changing room and he needs to, he needs to rattle a few cages. There has been no desire, a lack of effort from Villa. It's too easy. Nobody's prepared to break a neck to get forwards."

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Not the greatest half of football in the world, but both sides will probably be happy to go in at the break goalless.

  16. Postpublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

A nice exchange of passes sees Christian Benteke receive the ball from Leandro Bacuna just inside the area. Benteke is a shade offside and though his shot lands in the back of the net, he is flagged offside. The crowd enjoy the chance to cheer, before Tim Sherwood and then Nigel Pearson scarper into the concourse.

  17. Postpublished at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Robbie Savage
former Wales international, Match of the Day at Villa Park

"Overall in this first-half, Leicester will feel they should be ahead. I think Tim Sherwood's sat there thinking 'wow I've got a bit job on here'. It's a big job, but can he keep them up? They've got great support and a super stadium. It's a fantastic football club but it's a big job ahead."

  18. Postpublished at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Jason Roberts
At Villa Park for BBC Radio 5 live

"You wonder, from a Leicester perspective... you have got Leonardo Ulloa on the bench, Andrej Kramaric has come in for a lot of money but he is not good in the air and all Leicester have done is hit long balls up to him. It always makes me wonder why you pick a striker when he is not at his best playing that way."

Tim Sherwood is leaning forward, hand rubbing his chin, deep in thought. Wonder what he is thinking?

  20. Postpublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Leandro Bacuna picks up the ball out wide, turns and pings a cross into the area for Christian Benteke, but the Villa striker can't make the desired connection and the ball drops comfortably for Mark Schwarzer. The game is opening up a bit though.
