James Chamberlin:, external Sherwood gave youth a go at Spurs and they are now reaping the rewards. I think he will do the same at Villa.

Just Adam:, external Tim will keep us up, just because he's not Paul Lambert. Players didn't want to play for him, it's the 'new' factor that will work.

Shaltangy, external: Tim Sherwood would give the players attacking freedom to score goals, which has been Villa's problem. Similar to what he did at Spurs.

  3. Is Sherwood the correct choice for Villa?published at 12:04 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

    Joe Jordan
Former Tottenham assistant manager on Radio 5 live

On Tim Sherwood being outspoken at Spurs: "I think he said after his volley of words that he wouldn't change and he is an emotional man. Sometimes you've got to try and control that for the benefit of the dressing room, so maybe he has learned from that.

"I don't think he will step down from voicing that, but maybe he will take the opportunity to close the door and say it in the dressing room to the players. On one or two occasions he voiced it to the media, but that was in the early part of his managerial career at Spurs.

"You look at the experienced managers and there's been one or two of the big clubs who went out early in the FA Cup against lower division clubs. Those managers wouldn't have been too happy, but they would have closed the door with the experienced players expected to win that game and told them what they thought about it."

  8. "An important chance"published at 11:47 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2015

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson, speaking to BBC Sport: "Today's an important game for us and our form in terms of results. It becomes a very important chance for us to get back to winning ways. I'm sure Villa will feel the same way. There has been quite a bit going on here, but it is about the performance of players today, for both sides.

"We want to try and build on what was a very positive result in the week. Speculation is external, it's something I can't control. The important thing is to try and focus on the job in hand. Today we are looking forward to this cup tie.

"When you look at the sides in the competition a number of clubs will be thinking this is a really good opportunity. For us it is a chance to get a result which we can then take into our league form. It has been a difficult season for us but the majority of our performances have been good. We have to take those positives into remainder of the season. A good cup run would be a real bonus for us, to keep things positive."

Ronnie Hutchison: He's got a lot to prove. He inherited a decent squad at Tottenham and led them to fifth. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on with a lower calibre squad and less money. This job will determine whether he does have what it takes to manage a top club. Jury is still out.

Scott Jones: Nothing. Sadly, too many people look at the manager and nothing else. Villa have a poor squad and a chairman who hasn't given them the funds they need. Maybe the manager was to blame, but there are other reasons why they are where they are.

Pete Clark: I hope he makes you all eat your words. As a Spurs fan I thought he did a great job with us last season with what he had at his disposal. He had a team of misfits that he didn't buy and he led us to our second highest ever points tally in the Premier League. Good luck Tim hope you keep them up!

The Leicester players have arrived at Aston Villa and having a stroll on the pitch.

I've also just spotted a bespectacled Nigel Pearson walking into the stadium, looking relaxed. It has been a strange old week for the Leicester boss. Seven days ago, the rumours were rife that he had been sacked after his tangle with James McArthur last Saturday.

Pearson will be keen for his side to secure a win today, and help take the spotlight off him.

Leicester make just one change from the side who played so well in the 2-1 defeat at Arsenal in midweek. On-loan Stoke defender Robert Huth is cup-tied and is replaced by Marcin Wasilewski. Record signing Andrej Kramaric is again the lone gun up front.

Leicester XI: Schwarzer, Simpson, Wasilewski, Morgan, Upson, Konchesky, Mahrez, Cambiasso, James, Schlupp, Kramaric

"David Simmons, it's there! The scenes at this crowd... but what could one expect? Fourth division Colchester three, Leeds United nil and no one can complain about that score not being a true reflection. Colchester have been good value throughout."

"The whistle has gone. Leeds United are beaten (3-2). And look at the celebrations of this record crowd at Colchester. The fans are invading the pitch. So many people are trying to climb the barriers. The players racing to get off. And this a magnificent performance from the Fourth Division side. You cannot argue with the result, it is just about right."

Aston Villa caretaker coach Scott Marshall, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is not an ideal situation by any means with the manager leaving earlier in the week, that has been a disappointment for everyone but now we just try to get into the next round of the FA Cup.

Who picked the team? "All the staff have stepped up and helped out and we have come into an agreement with the team today.

"Tim Sherwood is an enthusiastic guy and I am sure he will be keen to stamp his authority on the team."

Joe Jordan - 'Sherwood will enlighten players'
Former Tottenham assistant manager on BBC Radio 5 live

"I never thought at the beginning or during the season Villa would find themselves in the position they are in now.

"I think they had to make a change to kick-start some of the players, like Christian Benteke for example, who's been out for quite a while with an injury, to get the best out of them.

"They see in Tim Sherwood the man that can do that. He did it for Spurs after Andre Villas-Boas had gone. He enlightened some of the young players there. Not just the young players, but the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and got the best out of them."
