Here's what Nigel Pearson had to say following that defeat against Palace: "It was a game that we had chances and to come away with nothing is quite tough for us.

"We had plenty of good situations while Palace did not create too much. It's frustrating we can't turn performances into results."

I'm sure Foxes fans need no reminding, but Leicester were beaten 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace yesterday afternoon. They now have just one win in the last nine games.

  3. "Leicester a soft touch under Pearson"published at 18:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Following unconfirmed reports Nigel Pearson has been sacked as manager of Leicester.

David, a Leicester fan, says: "If the reports are true then my response would be overwhelmingly very pleased. He should have gone earlier in the season. The man did a fantastic job last year, but he is a Championship-level manager. His general persona does him no favours and the league position speaks for itself. We are a soft touch."

There's a lot of chat about Wayne Rooney's midfield deployment. Here's his touch map. Is he better served being more central and further forward?

  5. How's stat?!published at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Here are some key stats from today's game at Upton Park:

    • Manchester United have now lost just one of their last 21 Premier League games away in the capital (W12 D8 L1).

    • West Ham missed the opportunity of winning their home games against Man City and Man Utd in the same season for the first time since the 1985/86 campaign.

    • Marcos Rojo made 14 clearances; only in one game this season has a Manchester United player recorded more (Smalling v Arsenal, 15).

Gary, a Manchester United fan, says: "Lacklustre, shocking. We're not good enough. Wayne Rooney should be playing up front."

Steve, a West Ham fan, says: "Wayne Rooney is a disgrace. He is on and on in the referee's face. He's England captain, he's got to set an example".

  7. Manager reactionpublished at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, speaking to BBC Sport: "I've seen fantastic spirit and character from my team after going 1-0 behind. I told my players that and thanked them.

"The first half was not good enough, all first and second balls we lost and that's why we couldn't get out of the pressure of West Ham.

"In the second half we showed how good we can be in spite of all circumstances here. That's why I am happy with second half and we could have won, but you never start like that.

"I'm happy for Daley Blind but he also has to play better in first half."

There were plenty of fantastic goals in January, including both strikes during QPR's 1-1 draw with Swansea and a rare Rickie Lambert league goal for Liverpool.

  9. Manager reactionpublished at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, speaking to Sky Sports: "We played very badly in the first half and showed a lot of spirit in the second half.

"We gave away that goal and then we played football but you have to do it from the first minute.

"But what spirit from my team after the goal and I thanked my players for that.

"[In the first half] when we had the ball we didn't play it along the floor. When we lost the ball, you have to win the first and second balls much quicker.

"With Marouane Fellaini you have to change your playing style. That's what we did and because of him we created lots of chances. I'm pleased that we have a draw here."

After Cheikhou Kouyate scored a cracking goal to put West Ham ahead, we've been asking: What's the best goal you've seen scored by a centre-half?

Colin Cox: Alan Kernaghan - 1994 for Man City v Leicester. Got the ball in in own half, took on three defenders and then lobbed from 40 yards.

Matt Fallon: Best centre-half goal has to be Tony Adams against Everton. Steve Bould over the top and a crisp left foot finish. 4-0 and the Premier League title.

Chris Oakley-White: Has to be Philippe Mexes' goal v Anderlecht. That bicycle kick.

George Shadow: Again, can someone remind me why we brought in Radamel Falcao?

Sho: Manchester United too predictable. Keep it tight and you nullify their front four. Marouane Fellaini will come on and resort to route one football.

Nitin R Menon: Ander Herrera. Start with him, and you'd see how useful all that 59% possession of the ball would be. Let Wayne Rooney play up front.

  13. Manager reactionpublished at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce speaking to BBC Sport: "A win would have been nothing more than we deserved if we had won.

"It's a great shame we conceded the goal but a fantastic performance which entertained the crowd - I always respect the point against one of the big boys even though they got the goal late.

"Cheikhou Kouyate was playing centre-back for the first time and if you look at quality of his goal - it was fantastic."

Big Sam's got his claws out there - "it was thump it forward and see what happens" from United.

  15. Manager reactionpublished at 18:25 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, speaking to Sky Sports: "The lads are absolutely gutted and so they should be. It was a fantastic performance and I thought we were going to see it through but it wasn't to be.

"We just needed to find the second goal and didn't manage to even though we had chances.

"In the end, we couldn't cope with long ball United - it was thump it forward and see what happens. It's not how you normally see United play but it got them the point in the end.

"If you look at the amount of saves David De Gea made today he is probably just as worthy of them getting the draw as Daley Blind getting the equaliser."

  16. Manager reactionpublished at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Stoke boss Mark Hughes: "At a key point in game the referee hasn't made a brave or strong decision.

"He has allowed Jack Colback to stay on when really he should have got a second yellow card and gone off. That would have made the difference and possibly allowed us to go on and win.

"As it was, he was able to stay on the field of play and he has ended up scoring the goal that possibly might have allowed us to not get anything from the game.

"From that point of view, we are grateful for goal at the end but that was the least we deserved."

  17. Manager reactionpublished at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Newcastle manager John Carver played down the controversy over Jack Colback not being sent-off:

"It wasn't a classic and I thought we had stolen the three points when we got the goal. I couldn't see where they were going to get a goal from and, like I say it was from our stupidity," he said.

"I'm never going to take away Jack Colback's competitiveness. He's a real competitor and has been a great signing for this football club.

"There were lost of tackles going in and I thought the referee handled it very well. I'll speak to him (Colback) but I won't take it away from him."

  19. Player reactionpublished at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

West Ham midfielder Mark Noble: "It's feels like a loss. It shows how far we have come that we are gutted we drew with Manchester United.

"In many spells I thought we were the better team and just couldn't hold out until the end.

"You can't switch off against these top teams because they will punish you and that's what happened."

Despite an all-star forward line, Manchester United had to rely on a last-gasp goal from Daley Blind to rescue them a point at West Ham. But just how much did some of United's attacking stars earn for their efforts today? Our wages calculator has the answers (although you may not like them)...

Angel Di Maria is about £2,500 better off after the 90 minutes at Upton Park, Radamel Falcao will be taking home roughly £2,400 for his efforts today, while Wayne Rooney has pocketed approximately £2,600.
