"I have no doubt at all that was a cross by Carl Jenkinson but it just dropped over David De Gea's head and Antonio Valencia crashes into the post as he ducks under the ball. That could have been one of those 'good bad' crosses from Jenkinson. The amount of chances West Ham have made, Sam Allardyce will be very pleased. Manchester United, for all of their attacking players, have not created enough."

Has anyone seen Radamel Falcao? Perhaps he'll fall out of James Tomkins' back pocket when the big centre-half washes his shorts. The Hammers continue to look threatening themselves and Carl Jenkinson's teasing ball in almost catches David De Gea out. Big Sam is so relaxed about things, he's now sat back in his seat. Pass him a brandy.

Manchester United are looking much more dangerous now. Angel Di Maria is playing further forward and now Antonio Valencia is getting forward on the right flank. His low cross is cut out, but still promises better times ahead for the visitors if they can sustain this tempo.

  6. Postpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

What's the best goal you've ever seen from a centre-half? I don't recall the likes of Andy Morrison ever scoring goals like that.

  7. Postpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Cheikhou Kouyate is fine to run it off and continue. Good news for those who harbour hope of another spectacular finish from the big centre-half.

"Manchester United are throwing a lot of players forward and you know that if it breaks down West Ham's front two of Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho will cause them real problems on the counter attack with their pace."

Luke Shaw is definitely getting forward on the overlap much more now and he gets to the byline where he collides with Cheikhou Kouyate. The West Ham defender looks to have come off worse in that little tangle.

Sam Allardyce didn't even get out of his seat when West Ham scored. Has he got a bad back or does Cheikhou Kouyate bang in goals like that every day of the week in training? Back to more pressing matters, James Tomkins makes a fine tackle to block Robin van Persie's shot.

  11. Postpublished at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Luke Shaw runs at the Hammers defence for the first time and he cuts inside and whips in a dangerous centre but Radamel Falcao can only flick it wide.

Wale ibraheem: Terrific skill from Cheikhou Kouyate. Juggle, turn and volley. But that Manchester United defence is shambolic.

Tom Mason: Classic centre-half goal from Kouyate.

  13. CLOSE!published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

Upton Park is off its feet again when Enner Valencia charges into the penalty area, but Phil Jones stands up the striker and manages to nip the ball away. At the other end, Angel Di Maria picks out Robin van Persie who takes a nice touch before firing across goal and into the keeper's arms.

  14. Postpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

What will Manchester United's response look like? It seems like Radamel Falcao has been stung into action at least, with the striker blasting a wayward shot wide from range. A marginal improvement.

"West Ham carried such a threat in that first half from set-pieces and that is a brilliant goal from Cheikhou Kouyate. He takes three touches with the ball in the air before twisting 180 degrees and volleying it home on his right foot. What a brilliantly taken goal by the centre-half. I don't think Sam Allardyce can quite believe he's done that."

What a goal that is! Mark Noble lifts a free-kick into the box and Cheikhou Kouyate, with his back to goal, plays keepie-uppies before spinning his marker and hammering the ball past David De Gea. Some serious skills have just been taken out of the locker by Cheikhou.
