Good point Diegwu, time to turn discussion back to football after some ugly scenes tonight.

Ghana will meet Ivory Coast in Sunday's Africa Cup of Nations final - a repeat of the 1992 one. That, incidentally, is the last time Ivory Coast won the tournament while Avram Grant has not had the best of luck in past finals of cups. Could that be about to change?

We will be back on Sunday with live text commentary of that game so join us then. For now, goodbye.

Diegwu:, external At last we are gonna have the dream final between #CIV & #Ghana although not with the Golden generation of players.

Nothing from Avram Grant about the disturbances in the stands, although he did not appear to be asked about them in the clips I have just seen of his interview.

Ghana coach Avram Grant, speaking to ITV4: "It was not an easy game. Equatorial Guinea stared the game very well. The second half we dominated.

"I told them at half-time we just needed to play our game and I am happy we did it. I know nobody thought we would do something good at this tournament, but I said to the players it doesn't matter what people say, it matters what we do on the pitch and we have had good games."

Anthony Shaw:, external A sensational and beautiful tournament ruined by hooligans. Some amazing football yet it is the violence people will remember.

The Ghana players left the field at half-time under the protection of police riot shields as water bottles were thrown on to the pitch.

Former Africa Cup of Nations winner Efan Ekoku, speaking on ITV4: "The not knowing would have been the worst part for the players. The referee is generally the person who decides what should happen but there were quite a few officials on the pitch and it was not quite clear who was in control."

"Ghana are the deserved winners - it's a shame and impossible to remember any of the goals because we were so caught up in what happened afterwards. We lost about 15 minutes of play and it's shame it ended like it did."

There is a smattering of fans in the stands to watch the Ghana players indulge in a bit of dancing. They applaud some of the Ghana supporters who are still inside. Big smiles on the Ghana players' faces, you would not realise we had just had those mad few minutes earlier.

That's all we are going to have. The referee blows the whistle after a few, bizarre minutes of keep ball. Ghana are into the Africa Cup of Nations final.

  14. Postpublished at 21:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2015

I have to commend the players for keeping their heads together after that delay. They are carrying on as they were before the suspension with Ghana passing the ball around, looking for a fourth goal.

Julius Okpei:, external So we were all thinking the Black Stars will disappoint us again but now, we all in Ghana are praying that we come home safe.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2015

Right, confusion over for now. The referee is back in the middle of the pitch, blows his whistle and we are under way. How many minutes to go? That isn't clear yet. We are in the 90th minute anyway.

"Everybody is happy to play and the referee wants to play. The referee and players feel it's safe. but it looks like the competition officials want to abandon the match."

  18. Postpublished at 21:17 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2015

This is utterly bizarre. An official has just called the referee over to the edge of the pitch. It seems he doesn't want play to get back under way just yet and the referee is not letting go of the ball. Odd, just very odd.

  19. Postpublished at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2015

The players look ready to get going again. The referee has the ball in his hands, ready for a drop ball to get us back under way.
