"As each of the Chelsea players lift the trophy, they will feel they can all do that again together now, and you would not bet against them would you?"

  3. Postpublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Jose Mourinho is absolutely loving this. First, he throws himself to the ground in front of the obligatory team photo on the stage back on the pitch. Before joining in the jumping around on the back row.

  4. Player reactionpublished at 18:07 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

    BBC Radio 5 live

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill: "Fantastic. This sets up a good finish to the season. Against our local rivals, clean sheet, we've won the cup, it's an amazing feeling. They made it tough, they had a couple of chances in the first half but the skipper stood up for us with the goal, Diego was superb, and every single player on the pitch gave 100%.

"This is what you get when you work hard, and it's special for me too because I've never won the League Cup before. We were aware of the Premier League results from earlier today but it didn't affect us. We knew we had a job to do. Kurt Zouma for such a young lad to come in to the team, he's been fantastic, and he played an unfamiliar position today. He's a great boy, a fantastic talent."

Akinpelu Kayode A: Chelsea have effectively won two trophies today. Second presentation in May. Jose's selection and tactics? Spot on.

Adam Smith: Spurs have nothing to be ashamed about, undone by one lucky deflection. Played miles better than they would have last season.

John Southworth: Love him or loathe him Mourinho is a tactical genius! Did anyone predict Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill to both start?

Does Jose Mourinho go and celebrate with his team after winning the League Cup final? No, he gives Mrs M a call...

John Terry and Didier Drogba lift the League Cup trophy to the roar of the Chelsea fans. The celebrations will go on long into the night.

Former Chelsea & Scotland winger Pat Nevin
BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

"You can see it is a big relief to Jose Mourinho. He has gone longer than he has felt comfortable without a trophy. These are new players who have not won anything at the club before and they want it to be the start of a new dynasty. Having watched it today, it may well be one. And considering the results in the Premier League earlier today, that new dynasty could be quite successful come the end of the season."

Here come Chelsea. John Terry leads his side up, followed by Didier Drogba. Will the Drog get the chance to lift the trophy with Chelsea's skipper? It could be his final Wembley appearance.

Tottenham's players make the long walk up the Wembley steps, past the League Cup trophy and back down the other side with just a handshake and a loser's medal. A miserable feeling I'm sure.

Chelsea captain John Terry speaking to Sky Sports: "It's the first trophy this season and it's massive. It could be the start of something very good but we have got the league to focus on. I thought we handled the game well and the pressure well. First half it was even but controlled the second half. The manager made it clear from the outset we were out to win this competition."

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

"You can see how much winning that meant to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. Lengthy embraces with his backroom staff and clenched fist salutes to Chelsea's celebrating supporters - and then straight on to his mobile to report the good news elsewhere.

"This was a Capital One Cup Final victory straight from the ideal Mourinho template. Defensive solidity, Tottenham's two main threats in Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen snuffed out and a masterly selection to play Kurt Zouma in midfield in place of suspended Nemanja Matic."

  13. Postpublished at 17:56 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

The suspended Nemanja Matic is out there in the middle of the celebrations in his full kit... Learnt a few lessons from John Terry perhaps?

    Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas
BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

"That was as close as you are going to get to the perfect final performance from Chelsea. They never looked in danger throughout the game. We didn't see anything from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. Petr Cech did not have a meaningful save to make."

  15. Postpublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

As is often the case at the end of a cup final, one half of Wembley is almost deserted while the other is packed with jubilant fans. The lap of honour has started for Chelsea as Didier Drogba launches into some strange dance moves.

The celebrations start for Chelsea as the final whistle goes. Already the players are bouncing together in the centre circle, while Tottenham's players stare at their laces.

Erik Lamela swings in a corner from the right but the ball is hacked clear. Tottenham come forward again but Danny Rose concedes a goal kick and Jose Mourinho starts punching the air.

Here comes Didier Drogba for Chelsea. He has scored in all eight of his Wembley appearances for the Blues - barring charity shields - but surely that record won't continue. He replaces Diego Costa.

Dave Lewis: Got to say, fair play to Jose Mourinho. Three centre-backs and Petr Cech in goal has paid off.
