Steve Howes:, external Whether it's the FA Cup or Champions League, Brendan's team selections can be called interesting at best.

Dave:, external Disappointing but I think most Liverpool fans will accept this glitch if we continue our great form in the Premier League. Should win replay anyway!

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer: "In the first-half especially we took the game to Liverpool in the areas we could exploit. Rudy Gestede was unplayable at times for us. We had to do a lot of defending but we had a game plan and we stuck to it.

"You come to Anfield and keep a clean sheet, it's a fantastic achievement from our players.

"A lot of our team are young lads trying to make their way and to come here and have the experience is another massive boost in their development.

"We bring them back to Ewood Park and we hope we will have a full crowd. It's something our fans really deserve.

"The pitch at Ewood is nowhere near the standard here so it might be a bit of a leveller for us."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "It's been difficult here against Championship teams, Blackburn deserve credit. But my players also deserve credit, they were missing sharpness but they kept going and tried to create chances.

"It wasn't to be but we will look to get into the semi-final when we play away. When you have that many bodies behind the ball it's difficult. I thought we should have had a penalty on Adam Lallana and if you get a goal in the first 20 minutes it opens the game up."

  6. Manager reactionpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers talking to BBC Sport: "We kept a clean sheet and still have big confidence. We just lacked that final ball.

"We don't play until next Monday and that gives us a chance to prepare well. They put so much into the game but couldn't find the breakthrough."

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers on BBC Radio 5 live: "Martin Skrtel is fine. He could have played on but you have to listen to the medical team and the experts and he is fine in the changing room. He fell heavily so there was a feeling he could have been knocked out or concussed but I'll leave that to the medical experts.

"Our objective this week was to get four points out of six in the league and get into the next round of the FA Cup. We got six points out of six and although we are not through to the next round, we are still in the draw."

Good news - Martin Skrtel is fine and could have played on apparently. Quotes coming up...

  9. Player reactionpublished at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Blackburn defender Alex Baptiste told BT Sport: "We defended really well as a team, the midfield in front of us and Rudy Gestede up front put a real shift in.

"We had some good chances in the first half and it was a great team performance."

On his heading chance superbly saved by Simon Mignolet in the second half: "I got free from a corner and I though it was in."

Blackburn defender Matt Kilgallon told BT Sport: "It was 90 minutes of concentration. They had a lot of the ball but the lads worked for each other.

"Rudy (Gestede) is a massive threat for any centre-half. It was hard work out there but we are so happy with a clean sheet.

"I really enjoyed it and it's something to tell everyone about when you're finished."

Lee, Northampton: Just when you think we can cope without Steven Gerrard we play like this.

Dan, Liverpool: Brendan Rodgers gets yet another selection wrong in a cup competition. No top-four finish and there should be massive pressure on him.

Mark, Nottingham: Are Liverpool trying to prove a point? At the start of the season it was said that they'd struggle with the extra games. Yet they seem determined to take every game to replay and/or extra time.

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer on BT Sport: "We carried out the gameplan to a tee and Rudy Gestede played really well. He was immense and had a few great opportunities. Unfortunately we just couldn't convert one.

"You'll always get those type of penalty shouts here. But we worked hard."

"Forget about Mario Balotelli. He is an absolute waste of time. He shouldn't be anywhere near this team. I can see why Brendan Rodgers threw him on today as he might just create something, but 99 times out of 100 he will let you down."

Cup action in Scotland this afternoon too, where nine-man Dundee United held on at Tannadice to earn a Scottish Cup quarter-final replay with Celtic.

Referee Craig Thomson sent off Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk and United's Paul Paton in an early angry encounter.

Both teams hit the post before Aidan Connolly won a controversial United penalty, which Nadir Ciftci scored.

Terrors defender Paul Dixon was sent off for blocking a goalbound shot and Leigh Griffiths had his penalty saved before levelling with a great header.

Earlier, two goals in two minutes sent Hibernian on their way to a comfortable 4-0 Scottish Cup victory over Berwick Rangers and a place in the semi-final draw.

"Congratulations to Blackburn Rovers on an absolutely magnificent display. They were never ever desperate at any time. They have looked at how Liverpool have played recently and the tactics were spot on. Goalkeeper Simon Eastwood hasn't really had to make a real top class save.

"I think Blackburn got Liverpool on the right day, but take nothing away from the Championship side."
