Adam Lallana looking busy again as he weaves into the box but his cross is poor. Liverpool, dare I say it, seem short of ideas bar a Philippe Coutinho screamer.
They lose the ball cheaply, Blackburn counter and Emre Can has to take a booking by pulling Tom Cairney down.
Blackburn growing in confidence but are in danger of overdoing it as they flood men forwards and Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge threaten to break. Lallana can't find his England team-mate though and the move breaks down.

"Rudy Gestede looks like one of those players who seems better playing up front on his own. He just roams between central defenders.
"They have just been a bit sloppy today Liverpool. They have played better against better teams this season, but take nothing away from Blackburn. Liverpool are just very slow in the movement of the ball."
I'm going to make a prediction that Rudy Gestede will be playing in the top flight next season. He's a total wildcard, Andy Carroll or Peter Crouch-esque, and Liverpool can't deal with him. Gestede gets behind Kolo Toure and almost manages to hook a shot in on goal.
Philippe Coutinho hits another speculative strike well over the top but if anyone's got a licence to shoot on sight, it's the Brazilian. Into the last 10 minutes of the first half, but there will be seven or eight minutes added on for the early injury to Martin Skrtel.
John Dykes:, external Surely Rodgers should have brought on a midfielder and dropped Can back? A shaky back three has its lynchpin taken.
Jay:, external So Raheem Sterling handles the ball in his penalty area and Liverpool get a free kick?

Kolo Toure lashes into the net, brilliant hit, but he's offside as the ball is flicked on. It also hit Rudy Gestede on the hand. Should that have been a penalty for Liverpool? No goal, no penalty. No joy for the Reds.
Chance for Blackburn! Liverpool come undone at the back, Kolo Toure getting sucked out of position, and Blackburn work it well. Rudy Gestede steps over the ball and it runs on for Craig Conway. He can see the headlines in the papers as he runs on to it, gets all the power he could want, but none of the accuracy. Over the top.

"So far so good for Blackburn. They have not really had any problems have they?
"Liverpool have not really got going at all. Their passing is a bit slow. Blackburn are letting them have the ball in the back three and sitting in midfield. They are saying 'come on then if you want possession, we will make it difficult'."
Dangerman! Philippe Coutinho slips out of the close coverage he's under for the first time to open up a shooting opportunity 22 yards out. It's on his left foot and this time he can't control the strike, firing into the Kop. Better from Liverpool.

"Have you seen Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer on the touchline in his suit? He looks like he is auditioning for James Bond. He is very very smartly dressed."
That's three Liverpool players Rudy Gestede has hurt in the opening half an hour! None of which were from bad tackles, I should add. Gestede goes in for a volley and Raheem Sterling gets across to cover, and Gestede ends up volleying Sterling in the side.
The ball actually hit Sterling on the arm - would have been a harsh penalty but it did hit his arm. Excellent defensive work from Sterling though.
Good game now as Blackburn carry a threat on the counter. Liverpool's back three - I won't keep going on about this, honestly - but they look very dubious to me. Blackburn have Chris Brown and Jordan Rhodes on the bench. Can Rovers make that back three work?

"Liverpool can't handle Rudy Gestede's physical presence up there. Blackburn need to keep getting the ball up there."

"Twice in a matter of 30 seconds Liverpool have been caught out. Raheem Sterling is almost playing as a left wing-back at times. I would rather have played Adam Lallana there. Why would you have Sterling doing that?"
Excellent header from Kolo Toure to clear his lines. If Blackburn don't fancy their chances now, with a back three for Liverpool of Toure, Glen Johnson and Dejan Lovren, they never will.
I've seen that challenge four times and I still can't decide if Matt Kilgallon took the ball or man first. Who'd be a referee? Not me.
Blackburn are struggling now to get any sort of possession. But they do break well here and Craig Conway is almost away until Kolo Toure makes a fine tackle.
And then Glen Johnson chests a cross into his own side-netting! Almost a calamitous own goal...

"From our lofty position it looked like a very, very good tackle. Adam Lallana about to pull the trigger and the tackle came in."
Liverpool want a penalty as Adam Lallana gets the wrong side of the Blackburn defence but Rovers skipper Matt Kilgallon makes a desperate lunge. He just about gets to the ball first, and he had to too!
The hosts are stepping it up now.
