Will Steven Gerrard play this afternoon?

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said this week that his captain will not "walk straight into" the team when he is fit.

The Reds captain has missed the last six matches with a hamstring injury.

Liverpool have won five of those games, with the only blemish the Europa League defeat on penalties by Besiktas.

"There is no-one in the squad who has a God-given right to walk straight into the team," said Rodgers.

"I have shown in my time here that players who are performing well, irrespective of price or status, they play - simple as that.

"Steven is very much a team man and if he was on the bench because the team was in good form and playing well, I think everyone respects that."

Steven Gerrard scored twice in that 2006 FA Cup final win over West Ham.

Gerrard made his Premier League debut against Blackburn and has scored four goals in his last six starts against them.

As if you didn't know, this year's FA Cup final falls on Gerrard's 35th birthday and as he is leaving in the summer that could be his final appearance.

This afternoon will be Gerrard's final FA Cup appearance at Anfield - if selected.

Aston Villa, Bradford City and Reading are in the hat for Monday's semi-final draw, but will it be Liverpool or Blackburn joining them? Or are we on for a replay at Ewood Park in a week or so?

    We will know shortly.

Gary Bowyer and his Blackburn side have just been out onto the fabled Anfield turf. No fans are in the old stadium yet, but in 90 minutes the place will be full. Can Bowyer's side pull off a sizable upset, or can Brendan Rodgers win his first trophy in management this season?
