Paul Walmsley:, external Worried about how that start will affect Liverpool - not just because of the length of the stop, but watching Skrtel go off like that.

  2. CLOSE!published at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

What was I saying about Raheem Sterling being wasted out on the left of midfield? Utter nonsense as the England man drives in from the byeline, tying Adam Henley in knots before putting in a low cross. It could go anywhere, as a clearance hits a Blackburn defence on the back and ricochets just wide.

From the corner Rudy Gestede blocks Philippe Coutinho's shot and leaves Coutinho limping in pain.

  3. Postpublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Daniel Sturridge is almost played through on goal but he can't quite gather a sharp pass. The first moment of real danger for Liverpool, who are attacking the Kop end in this first half.

  4. Postpublished at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Liverpool not at their fluent best in these early stages. Raheem Sterling is playing on the left of midfield which seems a bit of a waste.

"Kolo Toure is having a bit of an argument with Rudy Gestede but I don't think he did anything wrong. He just out jumped Simon Mignolet."

  6. CLOSE!published at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Rudy Gestede is a massive threat for Blackburn and he causes mayhem with his first attack. The giant striker climbs brilliantly to beat Reds keeper Simon Mignolet to the high ball, and he heads it wide! Mignolet was nowhere, that was a real chance.

Mignolet was struggling with the sun in his eyes. Get him a cap!

That was a delay of maybe eight or nine minutes. How will the sides restart the game? A few players looked pretty cold during the delay - perhaps it is not as warm out there as it looks.

Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel is strapped on to a spinal board and leaves the field on a stretcher. He has been fully conscious for several minutes and is talking to the medics who are looking after him.

He gives a double thumbs up to the Anfield crowd as he receives a standing ovation from both sets of fans. On comes Kolo Toure.

    Mark Lawrenson
    Football Analyst at Anfield

"They are making sure everything is absolutely secure before lifting Martin Skrtel. In terms of all the improvements in football this is one of the best. With injuries they take absolutely no chance at all."

  10. Postpublished at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Martin Skrtel is still being attended to as his team-mates look on. A disrupted start to this FA Cup quarter-final.

  11. Postpublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

We will have a lengthy stoppage here as both Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho warm up on the sidelines. Kolo is receiving instructions from Brendan Rodgers.

  12. SKRTEL INJUREDpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

And that is bad news for Martin Skrtel. His first header with Rudy Gestede sees a very awkward landing and Skrtel is in trouble. He is quickly surrounded by medical staff and is receiving treatment. He is moving his legs but he may well have been knocked out, at least momentarily.

  13. Postpublished at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Liverpool line up with a back three of Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren, with Emre Can pushed into midfield. Best of luck to you Martin...

Jordan Henderson leads the Reds out, flanked by Rovers. Spring has well and truly sprung, it's a wonderful footballing scene.

  16. Postpublished at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

The players line up in the tunnel as Rovers skipper Matt Kilgallon and former Sunderland team-mate Simon Mignolet share a few words. Rovers in their usual kit of blue and white halves. It is 20 years since they won the Premier League title on this ground. A fact their travelling fans will commemorate by having a minute's applause in the 20th minute.

  17. Postpublished at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

I reckon Philippe Coutinho got the biggest cheer at Anfield when the teams were just read out. He is in sparkling form, having his own goal of the month competition. Another one today?

Lawrence from Newtownabbey: Surely it's got to be the Great Dane Peter Schmeichel finishing the final leg of the treble in his last game for Manchester United.

Mikey from Dorset: Vladimir Smicer not only scored in the final, but scored the winning penalty and wins the Champions League in his final appearance for Liverpool.
