The first goal could be crucial in this one and Liverpool are next to threaten. Daniel Sturridge comes alive at the far post, his shot is well blocked and Philippe Coutinho's follow-up is wild and wide.

"Nine times out of 10 that would have gone in. A very good save from Simon Mignolet."

What a save! Blackburn so close to the opener as Alex Baptiste meets the corner with a belting header, all sorts of power but Simon Mignolet makes a big, one-handed stop!

  4. Postpublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Kolo Toure with another good clearance, and then Emre Can has to make a saving tackle. Excellent start to the half from Rovers.

  5. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

We have a false start to the second half but second time around we get going again.

Stevie Power:, external Why does Brendan Rodgers always tinker? Just play Can at the back and never let Glen Johnson wear a red top again.

Bill, in Hereford: Last time I saw Liverpool play this bad they lost by one goal and were knocked out of another cup competition... Not too long ago...

George, from Durham: A back three of Glen Johnson, Kolo Toure and Dejan Lovren is likely to strike fear in any striker! Playing in the same team, that is.

Fashion Police, Edinburgh: Ello, Ello, Ello. What's going on 'ere then? Definitely not a fan of Blackburn's socks. They look odd.

I've just seen six replays of Martin Skrtel's injury in a row and it makes for pretty sobering viewing. His head hit the turf with some real force, but you can attach no blame to Rudy Gestede in my opinion. It was a routine aerial challenge that Skrtel came out of badly.

"Well done to Blackburn Rovers. They have their game plan, they are playing 4-5-1 and it is working. Liverpool haven't really got started, they are just resting on their laurels a little bit.

"If Liverpool start the second-half with the intensity they showed against Burnley, and more so against Manchester City, they will play a lot better and create chances because of it."

  11. Postpublished at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Still no first-half goal in the FA Cup quarter-finals then. A pretty open game though, both sides looking dangerous in moments, but no way through yet.

"Rudy Gestede has been the best player in the game. He has caused lots of problems for Liverpool.

"Manager Gary Bowyer will be absolutely delighted, in many ways he would be thinking 'I don't want half-time to come'.

"But the thing about Blackburn is, at the moment we do not know how hard they have worked. After about 70 minutes we will know."

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

The best moment of the game from Liverpool forces Simon Eastwood into a good save. Raheem Sterling carries the ball a long way down the left and picks out Daniel Sturridge, he has two defenders right on his back but wriggles away and a powerful hit forces Eastwood into duty at his near post. Liverpool ending the half well. Can Blackburn keep it shut?

"You have to say Blackburn have defended really, really well and have limited Liverpool to very few chances."

  16. Postpublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Blackburn waste a free-kick, not good enough when it is such a good route to goal for the Championship side.

    Robbie Savage
    BBC Sport

"You have to say Liverpool have missed Martin Skrtel at times, with the aerial presence of Rudy Gestede. They can't cope with him. He is causing every one of the defenders problems."

"I like Emre Can wherever he plays. I think he will end up in midfield. He is just very, very comfortable.

"They [the media] are all shouting that he could be world class but he is not a full international for Germany yet so they have gone a bit early."

  19. Postpublished at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Neither goalkeeper has made a save Lawro. It's been interesting rather than gripping. We've not had a first-half goal in any of the FA Cup quarter-finals so far.

Hang on - SAVE for Simon Eastwood. An easy one as Lazar Markovic hits one in from 20 yards.

  20. Postpublished at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

    Mark Lawrenson
At Anfield for BBC Radio 5 live

"Has Blackburn goalkeeper Simon Eastwood actually made a save? At half time there will be a more than gentle reminder from Brendan Rodgers about moving the ball quicker, as this is a team that can move it very quickly."
