I’m feeling pure elation, I’m so proud of this team and so happy for every little girl that dreams about this. Carli Lloyd, I call her my beast, she is just a beast, a star, I’m so happy for her. Heck yes, this is our best performance and I’ll take this any day.

Huge cheers for Canada's Kadeisha Buchanan as she picks up the young player award, but they are overpowered by the reception for Carli Lloyd who picks up the silver boot behind Germany's Celia Sasic, and the golden Ball for the best player of the tournament. With a World Cup winners medal as well, it's not been a bad day's work for Carli.

The USA squad have medals around their necks. I said we had gone sentimental.

Can you get more sentimental than USA legends Christie Rampone and Abby Wambach going up together to collect the Women's World Cup trophy? Chants of 'USA, USA, USA' as Wambach and Rampone lift the trophy high in the air.

The ticker-tape falls down on the players and USA are the world champions again.

They are dragging this out. Now the awards for the best three players of the tournament.

Japan's Aya Miyama gets the bronze ball for being third best, Amandine Henry of France, who is not in Vancouver, is the second best player.

And, drum roll..... the best player of the tournament is USA's hat-trick hero Carli Lloyd. She has just picked up a silver boot and a golden ball in the last two minutes. She will soon have a gold medal as well.

The officials have collected their medals. Carli Lloyd goes up on her own to receive the silver boot for coming second to Germany's Celia Sasic in the goalscoring charts.

USA goalkeeper Hope Solo then gets a golden glove for being the best goalkeeper in the tournament.

The medals are going to be handed out some time soon. The dignitaries are out on the pitch and USA will soon have their hands on the World Cup trophy for the first time since 1999.

Japan has a couple of aging players in their squad and I think it is, sadly, a time for a new generation to come through for them.

The USA have grown in every game they have played and it is great to see the younger players performing so well. With what they have, the future is looking really good for them.
