Right, if Rachel is right then you will be kicking yourself if you miss the second half. If she is wrong, oh well, you have seen another half of football.

So you're staying with us then? Good.

It’s unbelievable, I just don’t get it, America have come at Japan and stifled them. But Japan can get back in the game, they have the technique and skill.

The BBC pundits are pointing the finger at Japanese defender Azusa Iwashimizu, saying she was at fault for three of the four goals USA scored.

Remember Iwashimizu was substituted after only 33 minutes. She would have been dreaming of this moment and dreaming of lifting the trophy later on. Sometimes reality can be very harsh indeed.

It is so difficult to be so far behind after 15 minutes and Japan have brought on experienced players now and look a little bit tighter and that is what was needed.

Has there ever been a more remarkable half in World Cup final history? Japan need a miracle to get this back. But it has been all their own fault as woeful defending has contributed to them being ripped apart.

My Japanese wife is sound asleep, needless to say I won't be waking her up, will let her dream rather than see this nightmare, Regards

    Justin

I expected USA to win by at least three, but the way they're tearing Japan apart they could hit double figures!

    Dave, Manchester

Wise move Justin, wise move. 'Wake up, dear. Your team are getting hammered'. It might not be the best wake-up call ever.

Japan cannot cope with Carli Lloyd's movement. She helps set up Meghan Klingenberg who goes to ground in the 18-yard box under a strong challenge, but referee Kateryna Monzul is not interested in the penalty appeals.

A penalty would have been nice. Been far too long since we had any action.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 40 minutes

    USA 4-1 Japan

Right, time for another substitution as Japan think they have nothing to lose any more. Unsurprisingly it is a striker that comes on with Yuika Sugasawa the player introduced, replacing midfielder Nahomi Kawasumi.

Five goals, two substitutions in 40 minutes. You better not be thinking of going to sleep.

Homare Sawa will just get herself in to space and want to get on the ball and keep things ticking over.

Speaking about Lloyd's 50-yard effort for America's fourth.

This tweet comes from Stoke and Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam, a man who knows a thing or two about long-range strikes.

Missed Carli Lloyd's hat-trick goal? You sure missed out, but don't worry you can watching it now by using the highlights tab.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 33 mins

    USA 4-1 Japan

You know you are in a trouble when you are making changes inside 35 minutes. Japan defender Azusa Iwashimizu is hooked and is replaced by the vastly-experienced midfielder Homare Sawa. Just the 204 international caps for her.

Iwashimizu does not look to be injured but is absolutely distraught on the bench, sobbing uncontrollable as her team-mates try to comfort her.

    USA 4-1 Japan

This has been an absolutely crazy opening half hour. And Japan have another chance to score.

A cross is played to the back post and Nahomi Kawasumi does well to keep the ball alive. It is knocked back to captain Aya Miyama on the edge of the penalty area but her shot lacks power and is straight at Hope Solo.

Solo had just conceded her first goal in six games. And she nearly conceded another one a minute later.

Yuki Ogimi just showed exactly what she can do there, it’s a nice bit of intricate passing, lovely turn, picks her head up just manages to slot it past Hope Solo. That is what we want from this game.

The fightback starts now. A tiny, tiny glimmer of hope for Japan. And it is a composed finish from Yuki Ogimi, who spins and has time to shoot past Hope Solo.

The American goalkeeper got a hand to the shot, but the ball was just a bit too high for her.

    USA 4-0 Japan

It is like watching Barcelona versus a pub side at the moment. The Japanese defence had only conceded three goals in their first five matches but they are all over the place.

Alex Morgan is the next to try her luck. But to Ayumi Kaihori's relief she is able to dive on the ball. To be fair to Kaihori, apart from some poor positioning for Lloyd's third (America's fourth) there is not much she could have done for any of the goals. She has been completely let down by those in front of her.
