Daily Mirror football writer John Cross on 5 live: "I like the fact that Swansea have got old-fashioned full-backs who are quick and mobile. Taylor and Naughton can defend, and get beyond the wide players and support the attacks - they fit the system perfectly."

Manchester United have only allowed their opponents five shots on target in the Premier League this season; fewer than any other side.

And Louis van Gaal's side have failed to score in three of their last five Premier League games on the road.

    Thrill-a-minute, don't go away stuff...

    Swansea fans, some help please.

We heard this week that Michu - the man who won over hearts and minds with a stunning season in 2012-13 - could be released on a free as nobody wants to sign him.

What are we missing here? Has he hit the bottle? Lost his love for the game? Deeply offended Garry Monk?

    Surely - surely - he's worth a punt?

Especially when you consider the prices being quoted for strikers in the embers of this transfer window.

"It's very special what Swansea have achieved. When a new manager comes in, he is told in no uncertain terms how they play, but given the respect to change it slightly if they want. They keep replacing players well."

Chucking down at the Liberty now as the players go through their warm-ups. MOTD commentator Guy Mowbray has to do a retake as he gets in a muddle pronouncing Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger - I know exactly how he feels.

    Not the easiest for commentators...

I saw Jonjo Shelvey make his home debut for Charlton as (I think) a 16-year-old. It was clear from the off that he was a huge talent. His career may have slipped and stalled a touch but he's still only 23.

Can he have an impact against a very expensively-assembled Manchester United midfield this afternoon?

Swansea midfielder Leon Britton on 5 live: "Jonjo Shelvey is very important for us. He gives us something different - he can make that final pass, but he can also strike a ball. There's a top player in there and he's got his head down this season. I think he can add something to the England squad."

I don't know if a career in the MLS is on Garry Monk's future wishlist but he's already big in the Big Apple it seems.

Well, he was featured in the New York Times, external this week anyway. A good read, my favourite line was this:

Now, everyone calls Monk “Boss” or “Gaffer” (British slang for manager).

    That's that clarified...

Garry Monk has made the transition from centre-half to dugout seamlessly, but can you see Wayne Rooney as a manager? To be honest, no.

But hang on. Louis van Gaal says he speaks to the striker about all sorts of goings on at Old Trafford - even cooking.

"Things like the selection and the kitchen and the members of the staff, everything you can mention, he is involved," Van Gaal said in the Sun. , external

"I think he trusts me so that is also very important and I trust him. So when he comes to me and has remarks I always pay attention."
