  1. West Ham squad 'looks healthy'published at 18:09 British Summer Time 1 September 2015

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC Football Focus

West Ham have added strength in depth. I’ve been really impressed by Dimitri Payet this season. Alex Song is a clever bit of business, he has that nous to calm the game down. The squad looks healthy now.

Don't zone out just yet. As Phil's note states, these moves can still go on for a few hours yet.

  3. Ilori to Villa?published at 18:07

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

"Liverpool have submitted a 'Premier League deal sheet' regarding the potential transfer of 22-year-old Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori to Aston Villa.

"This has been accepted from the Premier League and means they now have until 20:00 to complete the paper work on this transfer. If it is completed it will be a season long loan.

"There is a significant loan fee for this - and a clause that would allow Aston Villa to make it permanent at the end of the transfer."

Bradley Johnson - Norwich to Derby

Another big one in the Championship as Derby sign Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson. The Rams are going all out for promotion it seems. That won't have been a cheap deal.

  5. Chelsea's 'crazy' loan outgoingspublished at 18:03

Football journalist Henry Winter on Chelsea's transfer window: "It must be frustrating for Chelsea fans because they have got a good Academy and all these players are going out on loan. The number that have gone out is crazy. You have got to give these kids a chance."

Dundee United have signed teenage midfielder Aaron Kuhl from Reading on loan.

So Manchester United signed Anthony Martial for an eye-popping £36m, and that's just the initial fee. Massive.

Spurs have missed out on Saido Berahino, so far. Is there any chance of that moving getting done in overtime after the forward took to social media to vent his frustration?

  8. 'Van Gaal is like a stamp collector'published at 18:02 British Summer Time 1 September 2015

Former Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock on BBC Radio 5 live:  "Louis van Gaal collects players. He's almost like a stamp collector. I don't see how he's going to fit them all into a system."

  10. Deadline Day biggest dealspublished at 18:01

Barring clubs making the most of the unofficial two-hour extension, here are this Deadline Day's biggest deals...

Anthony Martial [Monaco - Manchester United] £36m

Virgil van Dijk [Celtic - Southampton] £11.5m

Ramiro Funes Mori [River Plate - Everton] £9.5m

Michail Antonio [Nottingham Forest - West Ham] Reportedly £7m

Glenn Murray [Crystal Palace - Bournemouth] £4m

Papy Djilobodji [Nantes - Chelsea] £4m

That is a lot of brass. In fact, it is the final flourish of a window that has seen a total of just under £863m spent.

  12. Gunners stay silentpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 1 September 2015

    Martin Keown
    Football Analyst on Football Focus

"There seems to be utter madness in the transfer window and Arsene Wenger has stepped away from it.

"They badly needed a striker. Only time will tell if he is right but the early signs are that it is an area of weakness.

    "I think there's been a missed opportunity."

  16. 'At West Brom, what Peace says goes'published at 17:54

    Pat Murphy
    BBC Radio 5 live

"Saido Berahino has effectively threatened to go on strike in the last half-hour with his tweet. We assume the deal is not going to happen, so the next challenge for Tony Pulis is how to get such a talented striker onside.

"What Jeremy Peace says at West Brom goes, so it was always going to be a case of whether he or Daniel Levy blinked first. I understand West Brom were unimpressed at Tottenham's offer to stagger the payments.

"The indication I got from West Brom was that the initial payment would have been around £5m. Tottenham came on to me and said that wasn't true. I said to them: 'In that case, tell me how much it was.' I still haven't heard back from them. There's quite clearly a gulf in the perception of how much has been offered."

  17. 'Benzema wasn't going to come to Arsenal'published at 17:54 British Summer Time 1 September 2015

Football journalist Henry Winter on Arsenal's quiet transfer window: "Karim Benzema realistically wasn't going to go to Arsenal when he has got Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale around him. But they could still have got a top class striker in."

Michael Hector - Reading to Chelsea

Chelsea sneak one in before the deadline as they sign defender  Michael Hector from Reading.

Hector will stay with Reading though on loan. Chelsea have an amazing 32 players out on loan.

  19. De Gea staying 'a blessing in disguise'published at 17:50

More from former Manchester United player Phil Neville, this time about David De Gea: “I think all the Spanish were desperate for David De Gea to come back. This morning at training the Spanish national goalkeeping coach - our coach at Valencia - was gutted because he wanted him back in Spain.

"From the Manchester United fans' point of view I am sure they are delighted it did not go through.

"That was the one position I thought looked a little shaky and De Gea has been the best player for Manchester United in the last two seasons. He will want to play because he has the Euros coming up and he will want to be a Spain's number one. It could be a blessing in disguise for Manchester United."

    Martin Keown

"The performance of some of the Bournemouth players is showing that clubs should dip into the Championship. People like Matt Ritchie and Callum Wilson should have been in the Premier League far sooner."
