Pete Roach: Am I the only one who thinks Barkley has no end product and his final choice is poor? Shame.

Steven Horlock: More often than not Lukaku has the touch and movement of a Sunday League player...

M Chase Kross: Was Pedro on the pitch? Never saw him.

"With these changes Jose Mourinho really is looking for Chelsea to stretch the game.

"Radamel Falcao is up there, young Kenedy is out on the right hand side, Willian is back in too and all this should see Eden Hazard back into the thick of things as well. This is a really good watch now."

This rash of changes continues. Seamus Coleman tweaked something a few moments ago so £9.5m new-boy Ramiro Funes Mori will replace him for the last few minutes. Everton are going to have to reshuffle at the back, though.

There was a fair bit of pressure on John Stones today, given he was up against the team who tried to sign him, but he has been class personified in the Everton backline again and again. Cool, composed and rock solid. No wonder Jose Mourinho was so desperate to buy him.

Another Chelsea substitution. Cesc Fabregas is off, after another frustrating afternoon. Willian is on instead.

Benjamin Mbewe: Hazard has been a passenger in this Chelsea team.

Vankwesi: End of era for this Chelsea defence...

Sonawane Mahesh: The Chelsea of old could score two goals from 11 corners. Today haven't won a header.

"Why didn't he shoot? Diego Costa has only got one to his name so far this season. It's the confidence factor (see 71 mins).

"That was a big chance for Chelsea. Branislav Ivanovic did really well."

Here comes that Everton change. Aaron Lennon is now a permanent Toffees player, rather than a loan one, and he is on for his first appearance in a blue shirt since his move from Tottenham.

Radamel Falcao's first touch is a good one, finding Branislav Ivanovic with a delicious pass as Chelsea break quickly. He plays in Diego Costa on the left of the area but the Spaniard chooses to cut inside rather than let fly and runs into trouble. He is crowded out before he can get a shot away.

"The home crowd are livening up a bit now. Romelu Lukaku is always a threat - his shot was saved by Asmir Begovic - yet another stop - but this is a good spell for Everton."

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 min

Changes afoot for both teams. First for Chelsea - Radamel Falcao is coming on, replacing Pedro.

Everton want a free-kick when Branislav Ivanovic sends Steven Naismith tumbling but they have to settle for a corner. Chelsea clear but the home side keep the pressure on and Asmir Begovic is forced into action to keep out Romelu Lukaku's skidding low shot.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 66 min

    Everton 2-1 Chelsea

A crunching challenge by Brendan Galloway stops Pedro in his tracks but referee Andre Marriner lets play continue and the visitors' attack ends with Tim Howard charging off his line to punch a Diego Costa cross clear.

Marriner books Galloway for that earlier foul - the first yellow card of the game - before the corner can be taken but a good spell of Chelsea pressure ends when Pedro fouls Steven Naismith.

These are only half-chances for Everton but they are more than Chelsea can muster at the moment. We are more than an hour in and still just the one shot on target so far by Jose Mourinho's men.

Another Everton half-chance. Romelu Lukaku seems keen to bag against his former club, letting fly from an impossible angle on the right of the area and finding the side rather than the back of the net.

Yep, Chelsea are less than convincing at the back at the moment - this time Romelu Lukaku charges through but sees his shot blocked by Asmir Begovic.

The visitors get a bit lucky when John Terry taps the loose ball back into the hands of his keeper with Lukaku looking to gobble it up. That should be an indirect free-kick about 10 yards from goal but instead play continues.

    Everton 2-1 Chelsea

Everton have not done much attacking of late but they seem to fancy their chances against this Chelsea defence when they do come forward. Ross Barkley tries to wriggle his way through and evades a couple of challenges before running into the human roadblock that is Nemanja Matic. End of run.

OJ:  Mou should go? That's the problem with such clubs - it will be hard for them to have a structure because of unstable coaching.

Steven Wall:  Jose's not the problem, it's an old defence with no pace! Ivanovic has been problem for last two years defensively.

Stupot McDermote: Chelsea will finish mid-table this season, Jose will get rid of deadwood from team and then buy younger players.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 54 min

    Everton 2-1 Chelsea

Chelsea have had 74% of possession in the second half but are yet to pose a serious threat. Time for an attacking change by Jose Mourinho - Kenedy on for John Obi-Mikel.
