And there it almost is. Jermain Defoe plays a through ball to Jeremain Lens. He cuts inside and hits a daisy cutter at a diving Hugo Lloris. Comfortable save.

If the first half was a tad disappointing, this is worse so far. Neither keeper has been tested this half at all. The best is yet to come...

Rory: Looks like Spurs are treating this as a pre-season game while somehow making the Sunderland centre-backs look world class.

Fabio Borini is writhing in agony after a challenge from Ryan Mason. No foul is given but, despite getting the ball, the Tottenham man does plant his studs into the striker's foot in his follow through. He will be OK,

Sunderland fans not happy.

The defender need not have worried as Son Heung-min's delivery fails to beat Sunderland's first man and is easily cleared.

Half a chance for Tottenham as Nacer Chadli feeds Son Heung-min on the edge of the penalty area. He opts to pass the ball on though to Ryan Mason and he is crowded out.

Spurs corner though, a decision Younes Kaboul does not agree with...

There is a lot of falling over going on at the moment. Little else as both teams struggle to get their game going this half.

Don't forget neither of these sides have won a match in the Premier League so far this season. It is easy to see why so far...

"Tottenham need to step up the tempo. They’ve had lots of possession but are missing that final pass, there's no real intensity to their play. 

"It's been a lively game without much real quality. Sunderland have been looking to get Jermain Defoe in but if Spurs can step it up I can see them winning this."

Tottenham may have had most of the ball but it is Sunderland with the most shots, eight compared to Spurs' five, and with two shots on target while the visitors haven't had any,

A big chance for the visitors. Nacer Chadli is free on the right of the penalty area, he squares to Son Heung-min but, just yards out, he misses his kick and the chance is gone.

At the other end Jeremain Lens twists and turns but is tackled just as he is about to shoot. Into two minutes of injury time.

You get the feeling, Tottenham would like Harry Kane to have a few more touches inside Sunderland's penalty area. Just one so far...
