  7. goal

    GOAL - Fulham 1-0 Blackburnpublished at 12:07

    Ross McCormack (4 mins)

That didn't take long eh, Fulham fans?

Moussa Dembele, the 19-year-old edition, surges into the area and takes two defenders with him. The defenders watch the man rather than the ball which is pulled back into the path of Ross McCormack, who slots in.

Scottish striker McCormack could not have timed that better - Scotland manager Gordon Stracham is in attendance.

Following Anthony Martial's splendid Manchester United debut yesterday, we want you to let us know about  a memorable debut you've had for your amateur team.

Bevan:  One lad made his debut for school, came on 10mins from the end, did a foul throw, scored an own goal, and got sent off for a punch.

Jamie Hyland: Left-peg rocket from 20 yards in off the underside on a cold rainy night in Chartham.

In case you missed it earlier, Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is off. He's been released from his contract by mutual agreement.

  10. Who is Kelechi Iheanacho?published at 11:59

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Manchester City

So on to City's late, late win which they owe to the alert Kelechi Iheanacho.

He's 18, Nigerian and a lot cheaper than Anthony Martial.

City signed him in 2014, from Taye Academy in Nigeria and he looked good in the club's recent tours.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini gave him his second league outing and he scored the winner within a minute or two of coming on at Crystal Palace.

More importantly for City fans, they lead the league by five points.

  14. Reds feel force of Martial lawpublished at 11:48

    Manchester United 3-1 Liverpool

So on to Saturday's late game between Manchester United and Liverpool, which I can imagine is how Mayweather v Pacquiao II would turn out.

Big build-up, rather dull contest, lit up by a couple of standout moments.

Those 'moments' at Old Trafford were provided by United's expensive 19-year-old Anthony Martial, who slalomed his way past a couple of defenders before scoring on his debut, and Liverpool's expensive Belgian Christian Benteke who scored with an incredible overhead volley.

That aside it was 3-1 to United, who are second in the table.

Following Anthony Martial's splendid Manchester United debut yesterday, we want you to let us know about  a memorable debut you've had for your amateur team.

Antony Norman:  Was playing for the Royal Oak, scored a cracking header from a corner, to make it 3-2, went to stand up to celebrate and twisted my ankle, had to be taken off. Never will I forget it.

  17. Cech sets record straightpublished at 11:32

Cech and JamesImage source, Reuters, AP

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is closing in on David James's Premier League record 170 clean sheets.

In fact some people seem to have suggested he'd broken it already, after Arsenal beat Stoke 2-0 yesterday.

Not so, the big man says.

And just for info, James made 572 Premier League appearances, while Cech has 338...

  18. Watford get first winpublished at 11:28

When Troy Deeney isn't hitting the target, it's good to know that Watford have another player to take on the responsibility... Odion Ighalo.

The two combined brilliantly to hand the Hornets their first win of the season - the Nigerian's goal was also the first at home in the league this season.

A good Saturday for manager Quique Sanchez Flores, whose manicured beard was also looking rather resplendent.

  19. Meanwhile, back at Old Traffordpublished at 11:21

No LVG or Anthony Martial at Old Trafford, but plenty of Ben Stokes and Mitchell Starc.

It's the latest match in the ODI series between England and Australia. The series is level at 2-2.
