Austria have qualified for Euro 2016 with a resounding with a 4-1 win in Sweden. The Swedes also had their second spot taken from them - for the moment - by Russia who walloped Liechtenstein 7-0.

Victory in Moldova in October will see the Russians join the Austrians.

Spain moved a step closer to Euro 2016 qualification thanks to Juan Mata's first half goal. With two games remaining, Spain lead Group C on 21 points, two ahead of Slovakia after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Ukraine, who are a further three points behind in third.

San Marino scored their first away goal in a competitive fixture since 2001, but lost 2-1 to Group E rivals Lithuania as a result of an injury time effort by Lukas Spalvis.

Tonight it was like watching slow motion. We didn't have ideas. When you get to these tournaments, when you come against teams that are well organised, players hurt you."

It's an amazing achievement. We have congratulated him in the dressing room. My mind goes to Bobby Charlton too, he was one of our greatest players. I hope that he is pleased that it was Wayne that did it. You think records will never be broken but they do. Will it be broken? It doesn't concern me, it doesn't concern Wayne. The most important thing is that we keep improving out performances.

It's a fantastic achievement to have stayed at the top for so many years. He's been around for so many years and no-one has come in and taken the shirt off him and I can't see anyone doing that for the next few years.

By the way, I may have said that Wayne Rooney put his penalty down the middle - it was not at all. High, and into the top right corner. Apologies.

It's a great feeling. I've been close for the last few games and it's a dream come true. I was bit emotional, it's a huge honour and one I am extremely proud of. I knew it was a big moment and just picked my corner and put my foot through it. To be the record scorer before the age of 30 is nothing I could have imagined.

I would like to congratulate Wayne on becoming England's leading goalscorer. I have always been very proud to hold this record. Playing for my country was always an honour and a privilege and something I did with great pride. I obviously cannot deny that I am disappointed that I now don't hold this record, however, I am absolutely delighted that it is Wayne, as captain of my beloved club and country, who now holds this record.

    Quote Message

On behalf of myself and everyone at Manchester United I would like to say congratulations Wayne, this is a very proud moment for you and your family. It is a record that I am sure you will hold for a long time, and it is clear to see that you will go on scoring for your club and country for a long time to come
