I'll see Jordan Henderson tomorrow. He's been getting frustrated because there was no real improvement on his foot. We'll see how he is when we get back.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been in the United States to receive treatment on a heel problem.

He has not played since coming off in the Reds 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in August.

It's about using your squad. It's the same approach I've adopted when the team first played in the Europa League under me. This is an opportunity to get through the group and play players who haven't played so much and youth too. We want to bring the youth through the club, put them in pressure situations. The game on Sunday [against Norwich] is very important. Tonight is equally important. It's very, very early in the season. When you lose games at Liverpool there's always hype around that.

Midfielder Jordan Rossiter starts tonight and is a product of Liverpool's academy. The 18-year-old made his debut in the League Cup last season and became the second youngest goalscorer in the club’s history when he grabbed the opening goal against Middlesbrough, which finished 2-2 after extra time and which the Reds won 14-13 on penalties.

He made his league debut this season when he came on as a substitute in August's 0-0 against Arsenal.

Other academy graduates Cameron Brannagan, Connor Randall, Daniel Cleary and Spaniard Pedro Chirivella have been named on the bench by manager Brendan Rodgers.

In a region known for its vineyards in the southwest of France, FC Girondins de Bordeaux have had some stellar names donning their club shirt. Home supporters once witnessed legendary Frenchmen such as Zinedine Zidane - with hair - Jean Tigana, Jean-Pierre Papin and Bixente Lizarazu.

Managed by former France right-back Willy Sagnol, they have an unfamiliar side and finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season. Veteran Czech Republic midfielder Jaroslav Plasil is probably their most well-known player, and he's not even playing tonight.

They currently lie 12th in the French league table, with one win from their opening five games.

Tonight we're asking:  Which British side will go furthest in this season's Europa League and why?

Roberto Gocan:  Celtic. Spurs don't care and Liverpool will be knocked out in the knockout stages by a random team like Dinamo Tin-Opener.

Adam Rider:  Celtic will go out in the group stages - Never seem strong enough in Europe. Liverpool, round of 32 - their focus will be the league. Spurs, quarter finals - before running out of steam from playing too many games.

James Bloy:  I think Spurs and Liverpool will care. It's their best chance of reaching the Champions League.

It all looked rosy for the Scottish champions after the first leg of their Champions League play-off tie. Leading 3-2, they knew a draw in Malmo would be good enough to progress to the group stages.

However, Malmo had other ideas, winning 2-0 to send the Bhoys packing. After the exit, manager Ronny Deila criticised his players for being "scared and frightened".

How will Celtic do in Amsterdam tonight? Have they managed to pull themselves together? Their league form shows they are still struggling.

Tonight we're asking:  Which British side will go furthest in this season's Europa League and why?

WB:  Spurs. Very experienced in the competition, have a relatively deep squad and always find a couple of young gems (Pritchard, Onomah and Carroll?) for the first team.

Tom Holmes:  Of the three, Liverpool have the most depth and therefore should go the furthest.

    Played 10, won 10, scored 37.

I think you'll agree, it's not been a bad start to Thomas Tuchel's reign as Borussia Dortmund manager.

The former Mainz boss took over from Jurgen Klopp, who resigned at the end of last season after seven years in charge.

Tonight the German club face Krasnodar of Russia in a 18:00 BST kick-off. How will Manchester United loanee Adnan Januzaj get on?

Robin van Persie's Fenerbahce welcome Norwegian club Molde, while Roberto Soldado's Villarreal travel to Austria to play Rapid Vienna.

And for those Spurs fans wondering how Soldado's been getting on since his move back to Spain, how does two goals and two assists in his first three games sound?

Van Persie, meanwhile, has scored twice in his first seven...

  17. Full of European promisepublished at 17:04

The Europa League was a competition once sniffed at, providing a distraction to the rigours of the domestic league, featuring a collection of also rans.

Managers put out weakened teams, giving squad players a run out, as youngsters also got their chance in the first team.

However, that all changed last season, just ask Sevilla. The carrot of Champions League was dangled to teams, with the winners promised a place in Europe's elite club competition.

So, an evening of meaningless games, with little to play for? None of it! Welcome to Europa League football.

Scottish champions Celtic are currently second - five points adrift of leaders Aberdeen - in what is supposed to be a one-horse title race.

Can the Europa League give the British sides something to cheer about?
