With some of the tackles that have gone in, Stephen O'Halloran is perhaps a bit unlucky to go in the book for a check on Jon Stead. County right-back Elliott Hewitt then has Salford keeper Jay Lynch worried for a moment as his long clearance almost drops into the net...

It's a tough ask for Notts County tonight, there's not much going for them but they are not playing well. There's no real pattern in their play other than the long ball for Izale Mcleod.

In contrast, Salford City are reasonably bright on the ball, and midfielder Lewis Hardcastle has another good dig from 18 yards, sending a shot into the side-netting.

Salford win a corner and Danny Webber whips in a fine ball, a cannon, which Roy Carroll does well to deal with.

Salford passing accuracy is at 57.7% - Notts County 64.5%.

A 'proper' tackle or two coming in now. First Danny Webber and Thierry Audel are both fully committed to a heavy tackle and Jordan Hulme then flies in, a bit two-footed, but gets the ball cleanly. Referee Andy Madley happy enough with both.

Salford would have been delighted with this if they'd been offered it before kick-off - after 20 minutes they have been more of a presence in attacking areas than Notts County, as the two teams' heat maps show (Salford left, Notts County right).

End to end! Salford lose their shape momentarily, Notts County have an overload and Jon Stead is poised for a tap-in until Stephen O'Halloran recovers brilliantly to slide in and clear.

Salford smash it downfield and Jordan Hulme is in on goal again. He just dithers slightly and is forced wide, his eventual shot easily held by Roy Carroll. 

A flurry of Notts County pressure. One corner hammered mercilessly clear by Scott Burton before another cross in is knocked on but goalkeeper Jay Lynch is off his line very well to sweep it up.
