Olivier Giroud looks skywards as the Sunderland players wheel away in celebration.

The Arsenal striker - back defending in his own box - was decieved as Ola Toivonen dummies over the top of Yann M'Vila's free-kick.

Giroud sticks out a foot and the ball flies off his toe and into the roof of his own net past a rooted Petr Cech.

  2. goal

GOAL - Southampton 0-1 Aston Villapublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

    Joleon Lescott (44 mins)

Well I never did! Aston Villa somehow take the lead as Southampton temporarily inherit their inability to defend! Villa win a corner which is whipped in, it's completely missed by a man at the front post and Joleon Lescott can't believe his luck as he is presented with a tap-in from three yards out.

    A massive goal!

    Southampton 0-0 Aston Villa

Remi Garde will be delighted with this scoreline. Villa could have been four nil down inside the opening 10 minutes but can they see it out until half time now?

  4. Gunners not firing on all cylinderspublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

"It's not been the greatest performance from Arsenal, sadly they are missing Sanchez."

  5. Arsenal's openerpublished at 15:42

    Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland

Arsenal's number 11, Mesut Ozil, provides the killer pass to expose an daydreaming DeAndre Yedlin and play in Joel Campbell (no. 28) for Arsenal's opener.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:40

    Man Utd 0-0 West Ham

West Ham's run of attacking injuries continues as Victor Moses twangs a hamstring. On comes Michail Antonio.

    United still not offering much.

    Swansea 0-2 Leicester

Swansea have gone back into their shell at the Liberty Stadium.

Leonardo Ulloa has just passed up a fine chance for a Leicester third and Garry Monk is going to need some rhetoric to lift his side at the half-time break.

  8. Championship updatepublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

Struggling MK Dons are behind at Brentford, who went ahead through Lasse Vibe on 20 minutes. Leeds have shaken off the pie-related protests to take the lead against Hull through Chris Wood.

    Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland

    Garth Crooks
Former Spurs striker on Final Score

"When Arsenal play at home they play a lot of silky stuff, and sometimes as a forward that can be difficult to adjust to. A good finish by Joel Campbell."

  10. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 15:38

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Odion Ighalo thinks he has his ninth league goal of the season. He is in for a nasty surprise.

After clipping home on the half volley from Nyom's headed centre, the Watford striker looks up to see the offside flag raised.

Looked a touch harsh that. He should have got the benefit of the doubt.

  11. goal

GOAL - West Brom 1-1 Tottenhampublished at 15:38 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

    James McClean (39 mins)

What was that about West Brom not looking dangerous?! Sack me now. They equalise as Darren Fletcher rolls back the years to drive to the byeline and stand up a delicious cross which is crying out to be attacked, James McClean obliges and meets with a thumping header into the roof of the net. No chance Hugo Lloris!

    West Brom 0-1 Tottenham

West Brom having a fair bit of territory now but do they look like scoring? Not really. They're not the only team who can say that though...

  13. Deeney's hot streakpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

"It’s about what is between the ears. There has to be an arrogance about centre forwards, the good players I played with had that mentality."

  14. Postpublished at 15:35

'Interesting' defending from Joleon Lescott as the Villa centre-half stands to watch a cross go right by him inside the penalty area, Graziano Pelle stoops to head the ball on goal and Brad Guzan makes the save.

Have you been watching 'The Hunt' on BBC One? You know how wildebeest look utterly doomed every time they are on screen? Villa's defence give me the same feeling...

  15. goal

    GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Sunderlandpublished at 15:33

    Joel Campbell (33 mins)

Arsenal had been all sideways passes and ponderous movement, but suddenly they pick a path through the Sunderland defence.

Mesut Ozil gets his slide rule out and measures a lovely pass in behind DeAndre Yedlin for Joel Campbell to sprint onto and blast low past Costel Pantilimon.

Campbell fetches a dummy out of his shorts to celebrate his goal. And presumably a new baby chez Campbell.

  16. FA Cup second roundpublished at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

It's been a pretty quiet start to this afternoon's FA Cup second round but we do have a couple of goals to tell you about.

Walsall have gone in front at fellow League One side Chesterfield thanks to a Jason Demetriou goal.

Adam McGurk has given 2008 winners Portsmouth the lead over Accrington.

The other seven games are goalless.

    Man Utd 0-0 West Ham

A familiar tale at Old Trafford - where Manchester United have had 60% of the ball without looking like scoring. Louis van Gaal didn't get Martin Keown's memo...

  18. 'Foxes mugging Swans'published at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

    Swansea 0-2 Leicester

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

"Swansea have good quality players, but they are being mugged today by Leicester. Teams don’t have to boss possession to win matches in the modern era."

  19. Postpublished at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2015

    Swansea 0-2 Leicester

    Garth Crooks
Former Spurs striker on Final Score

"Swansea are on edge. They're a classic team on edge. They are not winning games, not scoring goals.

"You are looking for big characters now, who aren't afraid to have the ball in difficult areas. But they really are struggling.

"This is the same team that went to beat Chelsea this season."
