It's worth reminding ourselves what our Football Manager expert said about Watford's new signing - in a deal believed to be worth around £8m.

"A box-to-box midfielder with great stamina, work rate and determination, Abdoulaye Doucoure is not especially cultured but would bring a strong physical presence to the Hornets.

"In FM, he’s seen as a decent Premier League player but his attributes for passing and technique are 12 or higher so he’s not a total clogger.

"Anything more than £3m as a fee would probably be over-the-top, though."

  4. Manchester has everything... except a beachpublished at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2016

There's been some chat on the BBC football desk about whether Lionel Messi might fancy a change of scenery now his old boss has been installed at Manchester City.

The office Bristol City fan quipped that he wouldn't because Manchester doesn't have a beach.

But, surely, if Leo wants a sandpit, City's owners could create one?

This photo is among a host showcasing Pep Guardiola's success within his parents' home in Santpedor.

But will his time at Manchester City deliver further glories or a first managerial failure?

"I think he will look to carry on with the football of his Barcelona and Bayern teams," Guardiola's father Valenti tells BBC Sport.

"I mean, the football is very different. For that reason, I think he will have to change the mindset of English football.

"He has had a lot of success, but it has not gone to his head. He has always kept his feet on the ground. I don't know what will happen but what I can say is that he will give everything so that the club and the fans are happy with his team, that is for sure."

Chris Lincoln: With my wife 8 days overdue, can the Lincoln family squeeze in (or out) their new signing before the window closes!?

Remember Chris, if this one doesn't get done by 11, Mrs L will have to wait until July to add to the squad. Them's the rules.

    Burnley sign Tarkowski

Here's Burnley manager Sean Dyche talking about his new signing: “James is a player I have known for a couple of seasons and I’ve monitored his progress from Oldham, right the way through to now.

“He is at a good age and has gained a lot of experience over the last couple of seasons and I feel he can be a big part of us going forwards in the future.

“We want competition in all areas and we have been a little bit light in that area all season, so we feel he’s a very good player and an excellent signing for the club, both now and for the future.”

This is the stadium which sits proudly in the hometown of Pep Guardiola - Santpedor.

In an exclusive interview with the BBC, Guardiola's father Valenti has spoken on how his son was never without a ball as a child and rebuffed family encouragement to take up music as his focus remained relentless on football.

Valenti said: “When I used to go and watch him for Barcelona's under-14s and we’d head back home in the car together to wash his clothes over the weekend before he went back on the Monday, after a defeat on that journey he would sit in absolute silence, he wouldn’t want to talk.

“From an early age you could see that football was something that consumed him.”

Bournemouth have signed defender Rhoys Wiggins for the fourth time in his career.

He previously enjoyed two loan spells and a permanent move between July 2010 and July 2011 before leaving for Charlton.

He has now signed from Sheffield Wednesday on a two-and-a-half year deal for a fee understood to be £200,000.

He told BBC Radio Solent: “I was surprised by the interest. But, Eddie Howe’s a good manager and he knows what I’m capable of and how he sees me fitting into the style.

“Looking at it, people will be surprised by the move. But, hopefully I can do the business on the pitch and answer some of those questions."

    Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanderers have signed Bournemouth goalkeeper Ryan Allsop on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old, who played in Bournemouth's 3-3 draw with Everton earlier this season, joins after an injury to Alex Lynch at Plymouth meant 46-year-old Barry Richardson went in goal.

Hopefully, Barry won't have to wait another 11 years for his next game...

I wouldn't doff any caps to Jeremy Peace, his investment is diminishing in value by the day. Saido is a shadow of him former self and barely playing, why keep him rather than cash in at a point you can maximise your return? He's going to go anyhow, why prolong it?

This, if you look closely, is Manchester City's new manager (left), working as a ball boy and looking up adoringly at the then Barcelona boss Terry Venables.

In a heartwarming interview with the BBC, Pep Guardiola's father Valenti has revealed how his son would phone home from Barca's esteemed La Masia academy as a teenager.

In those conversations, Guardiola would clearly appear to miss home in Santpedor - and his mother - Dolores - would be moved to tears.

"It was very painful to be apart, but at the same time we knew that this had always been his dream in life, to play football," Valenti told BBC Sport.
