    Crystal Palace 1-0 Norwich

Norwich will be left just four points ahead of the relegation zone - with Sunderland having a game in hand - if the results stay like this.

Can they find an equaliser? If they can they will relegate Aston Villa in the process...

  2. goal

GOAL - Aston Villa 0-2 Bournemouthpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Joshua King (73 mins)

    Cute finish.

Reminds of Michael Owen in his pomp.

Joshua King, yes Joshua, never call him Josh, robs Ciaran Clark and closes in on Braz Guzan.

The Villa goalkeeper goes down, which opens it up for King to chip the ball over the American and into the net.

A royal finish from the Bournemouth striker.

"Jason Puncheon's had a difficult season and it looks like this goal could be the winner. He leaves Ruddy no chance. This puts Palace on 37 points and they're making their way home - it’s a home run.

"But Patrick Bamford is on the pitch. If he levels there could be a riot."

    Aston Villa 0-1 Bournemouth

Woah, woah, woah. That Crystal Palace goal against Norwich changes things for Aston Villa.

As it stands, they are NOT going down to the Championship.

A defeat for the Canaries will mean Villa are 15 points from safety with five games left, albeit with a -19 goal difference compared to Alex Neil's side.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:30 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Norwich

Norwich! Ryan Bennett comes close to an immediate response as he walks on to a punt upfield and places a side-foot volley toward the far corner but Watne Hennessey makes an excellent sprawling save!

  6. Andros Townsend's futurepublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Southampton 3-1 Newcastle

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham boss at St Mary's for 5 live Sport

"We've seen him do it for EngIand, we've seen him do it for Tottenham. I quite like Andros Townsend but he can be an erratic player.

If he only plays to his strengths more then I think he would be a good player for a Premier League club if Newcastle go down."

  7. goal

GOAL - Crystal Palace 1-0 Norwichpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Jason Puncheon (68 mins)

That could well be a huge goal! Palace haven't won in 2016 but they are 20-odd minutes away from breaking that run now after Jason Puncheon collects a pass 22 yards out and curls a beauty into the far corner.

Puncheon is in tears. Genuine, human tears.

That goal would see Aston Villa NOT relegated today...

As it stands, Newcastle are seven points behind Norwich, and safety, with six games remaining.

Looking grim for the Toon Army.

  9. 'Unbelievable from Townsend'published at 16:25 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Southampton 3-1 Newcastle

    Final Score

Former England winger Trevor Sinclair: “Forget about the situation. That is an unbelievable individual goal from Andros Townsend. They need more players taking the game by the scruff of the neck like that.”

    Aston Villa 0-1 Bournemouth

Andrew Surman has a free-kick for Bournemouth from the edge of the area but it hits the Villa wall. If only the home side had been that sturdy all season.

23 minutes plus added time until the inevitable is confirmed.

    Andros Townsend (65 mins)

A trademark, forlorn effort from Andros Townsend. Lovely strike too as he cuts in from the right, works the ball onto his left foot and arrows a shot from 25 yards right into the top corner.

It's an act Arjen Robben has been performing for years but it still gets results.

Ah there was the chance to break the deadlock though! A good ball cut back from the left but Yannick Bolasie blazes it over.

    Football League latest

As you were in the Championship, with Bolton still set to go down as they trail 2-0 at Derby. An eye-catching score at Ashton Gate, where play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday are getting thumped 4-0 by Bristol City.

In League One, Crewe's 1-0 deficit at Port Vale will see them relegated.

And Northampton Town are on course to go up in front of a record attendance at Sixfields in League Two, with Sam Hoskins putting them 2-0 up. Oxford are preventing the Cobblers from wrapping up the title though - they've pulled away to go 3-1 up against Crawley with goals from Callum O'Dowda and Liam Sercombe.

Here are Palace's crosses today. Green arrows are the successful ones (spot em) and the red ones not so good. Tells a story, I guess.

  18. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Aston Villa 0-1 Bournemouth

Villa are woeful. Kieran Richardson is two yards out and, with an open net, just needs to touch the ball in but completely misses it and it rolls to safety.

That came after fine work from Jordan Ayew, who will be picked up by another Premier League club next season.

Plenty of anger at Villa Park and with half an hour to go, they are heading to the Championship.

And they may not come back anytime soon either, just ask Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday supporters.

    Southampton 3-0 Newcastle

    Garth Crooks
Former Spurs striker on Final Score

“What you do see is Newcastle players just static in the box, waiting for the inevitable to happen.

"If you really believe in this you’re flying in, trying to stop it happen. You don’t see any of that.”
