Sublime stuff! The touch from Philippe Coutinho to take it away form a defender was ace, it sat up at 'a nice height' for him to shoot on the bounce from maybe 22 yards out, Patrik Berger range at the Kop End, and he crashes in a dipping shot. It's flying in until David de Gea spins out a wrist to push it away.

Evidence that Louis van Gaal's half-time tactical tinkerings may bear fruit as United keep the ball for an extended period of time for the first real time. Captain Juan Mata ends up laying the ball into the path of Morgan Schneiderlin 22 yards out, he has a reluctant shot and it's an easy grab for Simon Mignolet.

Michael Carrick is on, replacing young Marcus Rashford for Manchester United. For years and years and years we heard about how United struggled to replace Paul Scholes and Roy Keane. Now they can't seem to replace Carrick!

"He has been sensational so far and is the only reason United are still in contention.

"Liverpool have been too fast and too mobile. United have not been able to get Antony Martial into the game and Marcus Rashford cannot make an impact stuck out on the right flank."

Michael Carrick is going through an extended warm-up, looks like he may be coming on at half-time.

If United are as poor again you can bet that he'll be pushed out in front of the TV cameras too. He's the go-to man for a rank away display...
